Honestly I never thought running and jumping could be so much fun.

This game wins for me for a number of reasons. I'll keep it short. The story fulfilled its role of giving you something to uncover as you progress through the game, but let's be honest this game is not about the story. What really makes it is the mechanics. Running really fast and jumping super high is just darn fun, and the great level design gives you huge and fun environments to play around in.

Progression is pretty linear, but that's what you want in a game like this where you could easily get lost without the levels being intentionally designed to keep you on track. There are enough enemies and hazards to keep things interesting and challenging without getting tiresome or too repetitive. And the gradual upgrading of the LEAF suit introduces new mechanics as you progress, which also keeps things interesting and fun. Probably my favourite was speeding along the powered tracks in the mines. Not particularly challenging that part, but hella fun.

The game isn't without its problems (I especially struggled to get my gamepad to work properly) but the game design makes up for it. The only other major problem is that when you quit and come back, you have to start at the beginning of the (large) level you left off at, although thankfully while playing you will respawn near where you die. So if you want to quit, my advice is make sure you clear the stage first.. Ok, so maybe I'm getting a little cynical here but... Much like the movie A**tar, this is another attempt to indoctrinate young people, with a game that taps into pseudo new age humanistic mumbo jumbo and regurgitates it as content. Evil men invade a quiet peaceful "Valley" where they discover a source of mother natures benevolent power, and pillage it in the name of science, and creating weapons for WWII, blah blah blah. I could go on ad nauseam, but you get the picture.
As for the mechanics of the game, the graphics are beautiful. Truly Skyrimesque detail, and depth...Well done!! The playability is ok as well. You get spoon fed each new power\/ability for your suit just in time for when you'll need it. And swinging, jumping, sprinting through this environment is enjoyable. The controls are dead simple, so the learning curve is nearly non-existent. The game allows you to jump outside the main playable area however, and you can get stuck. No worries, simply "travel" back to the beginning of the level. There really is't much challenge here though, and I found myself wishing for more and better enemies. But then I remember the underlying thread\/theme of the game, and I'm disappointed. If\/when I could turn my brain off and simply be in the moment, I did enjoy what there was. But ultimately I was left wanting more content, and less preaching. Trying to be fair, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Can I recommend it? (Deep sigh) If you are wanting something casual to do for about 10-12 hours (depending on how much you explore), and you can suspend your thinker, then yes. If on the other hand you are like me, acutely aware of the underlying themes of things these days, in big bold letters, NO. These are only my impressions, and I'm sure there will be haters...And and always, your mileage may vary. Cheers!!. One of the most satisfying "walking smulators" I've ever bought. This game is a hidden gem, the movement system is amazing. the combat is O.K but just running around the world & jumping with the L.E.A.F. suit just feels amazing, The story is pretty interesting as well. Overall - A relaxing, fast-exploration game with beautiful backdrops. It can be completed in one sitting.

The best part is the satisfying running and jumping. It's great to jump all over the place, run at high speeds, and you even get some boosts. The additional mechanics are introduced at a decent pace and the mechanics feel fully relevant and meaningful. The running is the best part and I pretty much had shift pressed for most of the game.

It's an exploration game, but not a walking sim. It's quite a fast exploration game where you can enjoy the sights but you're also running towards your next objective. And the environment is beautiful of course, quite a joy to look around whenever you emerge from whatever building or tunnel.

Good music. At every area, pleasant to listen to. There were a few times a very interesting track would come on but I couldn't hear it again. Luckily I can find this in YT.

Good storytelling - it's done through notes and audiologs, by a few main characters.

Nitpick - all the audio sounds 1940s-ish, but the Virginia voice and the announcer voice in the military facilities are way too modern sounding, as is the language that they use.

There is a little bit of combat but it's simple and works well with your gear.
