Police inspector Emilien and his taxi-driver pal Daniel are back, this time on the tail of a group of Japanese yakuza.
The Japanese ambassaor is visiting Marseilles to view the city police's anti-gang tactics. During the visit, however, he is kidnapped by a group working for the Japanese yakuza. Young officer Emilien is determined to rescue the ambassador and officer Petra (his girlfriend), who was also kidnapped, and restore the honor of his department. Once again, speed demon taxi-driver Daniel (from the first Taxi movie) is called upon to save the day with his high-speed driving skills.
After the roaring success of the first movie, i was expecting the sequel to be like all other sequels, flat, uneventful and worst of all, boring.

Fortunatley this was not the case as i was subjected to another tour de force of thrills, spills and automobiles in a beautifully shot and masterfully excecuted manner. Though this time the action centres less around the car and more on standard chop sockey fare. This i saw as a positive note as the Taxi (1998) was the perfect introduction to it and to centre round it in the sequel would have been more than tiresome.

On the downside, the script and plot are a little thin and you'll notice the movie wanes a little for 20mins or so half way through. Though this is fought expertly by the (still) brilliant cast who make the best of things.

To make this a trilogy with Taxi 3 would be a great way to round things off. After seeing both Taxi and Taxi 2, i would love to see this developed in to a TV series or something, it has the perfect basis for doing so. You know what i mean, the kind of stuff to fill in the slot between 'Friends' and 'Buffy' during teatime viewing!

Overall, an awesome film, not as good as the original, but a great way to while away the afternoon none the less.

9/10 Who would thought a taxi driver could turn out to be a super hero? Luc Berson certainly did...A funny and entertaining sequeal to Taxi. One man one taxi and a whole lot of yakuzas...the elements your need in a ever fast-paced action flick. It's just too intense, you got to see it for your-self!
