About This Game

Désiré is a poetic point-and-click adventure game in black and white.

When the schoolteacher asks Désiré why he didn't draw the sun like the other pupils, he replies spontaneously: « It's always night in my head. »

Désiré is colour-blind from birth and he will lead you into in world of black and white. He marches on hesitantly, as life never brought him much joy. From a tender age, he is going to meet several characters who will elicit in Désiré intense emotions and alter his vision in surprising ways. Is colour at the end of the road?

The game is, at its core, a critique of the modern world and of the perverting nature of a consumer, profit-obsessed society.

The game contains 4 chapters, 50+ scenes, 40+ characters and a lot of riddles.

I really wanted to like this game. I love things that are story driven and point and click but have to agree with the other critiques. My feedback includes spoilers.

The story itself falls flat, I felt disconnected from the characters and the story was just overall not compelling. The characterization wasn't the best either, there was not much personality in each character's dialogue. Desire as a child speaks the same as he does when he is aged.

The game open and ends with a voice narration and while not exactly gameplay related, it was quite disappointing to find out that these were the only two instances of voice over narration. The music starts off really nice and somber but gets redundant really quickly. There are no sound effects when words appear or when you click on things so it doesn't feel as satisfying.

At times there are quiz portions that seem really unfair, especially the one regarding feminism. There is no way to get this information unless you go through trial and error, which for the gaining trust portion, had about 5 hurdles if not more. Get one wrong and you would have to start over again. It would have been much better game design if the answers to the soccer quiz or feminism history was given somewhere in the game.. The game is annoying and cheap. There is no direction, no destination and no good plot which I'd like to complete. There's actually no voice-acting (the narrator doesn't count), all the dialogues were boring so far and made me click through them. AND OF COURSE THE BOY SEEMS TO BE GAY+ he's young so he MUST keep saying about t*ts, t*ts and d*cks. So pretentious. I'd really like to play more, 'cause there is a chance that the game becomes more interesting, but no actual goal, boring dialogues and the lack of voice-acting in addition to the same music that keeps playing makes it not beautiful, but annoying. There are lots of better point & click games. Don't buy this one (or you can if you have trouble with insomnia).

@Petite Fleur Productions I wrote "seems" and it was supposed to be "gay + xyz", smarty. It still doesn't change anything, the game's cheap.. pleasantly morbid

negative revews are misleading. It's ok - difficult but hard to stomach for people who don't really like sex. Kind of stereotypical and overly philosophical.
I felt like I wasn't warned well. It's an okay game.. Not a game for the faint of heart but a true journey for those who can see the true beauty behind it. It has several life defining messages its beautiful in a disgusting way. This game is not for everyone, it can introduce some extremly mature concepts but its worth it.. Story, art style, music = thumb up!
