About This Game

BYTEPATH is a replayable arcade shooter with a focus on varied play styles with RPG elements. The game has a huge passive skill tree, classes and different ships through which you'll be able to try out lots of different builds to achieve ever increasing high scores and eventually beat the game.

Expect BYTEPATH to be a mix of Bit Blaster XL and Path of Exile, created with the intention of expanding Bit Blaster XL's relaxing and addictive gameplay with Path of Exile's build depth, build diversity and RPG elements.

Gameplay

Your ship can't stop moving, so you must turn it left and right or use your boost and brakes to prevent it from crashing on enemies.
Your ship can't stop shooting, so you must continually kill enemies and collect ammo so you can keep using your powerful attacks.
Items, resources and new attacks will be spawned randomly. Those will provide you with great boosts that may help you achieve higher scores in the current run.

Great game, good soundtrack, a giant skill tree, lots of classes, and fun gameplay, and an interesting main menu design and art style. Its deffinitely worth the price, I'd write a longer review but this is all I can really say, Its simply that.. Asteroids inspired shooter with Path of Exile style skill tree and classes & different ships to tinker with?
At a low mad price? And pleasant music on top?

How could I resist?

I couldn't.. I really liked Bit Blaster XL and saw this was similar and about the same price so I picked it up.

If you enjoyed BBXL and don't mind a staggering amount of upgrade paths, you'll enjoy BYTEPATH for sure.
There's a lot of variety available in the upgrades, with a large amount of small, minor upgrades alongside larger, more specialized points that can do things like remove your boost for +50% hp, make you invincible while boosting, decrease your stats but increase SP on death, and all kinds of stuff. There's also a "class" system that lets you choose between several major buffs and debuffs separately from the passives system.

Though I wish the game had a less punishing way to respec, SP isn't difficult to come by (unless you get an upgrade that removes SP pickups - oops!), so after you've got an established build it doesn't take too many runs before you have enough SP to respec yourself with a full build. It's probably even easier if you get an SP-based build - something you can do, and which I haven't tried yet!

- Screen effects can get distracting
+ You can adjust the screen effects to your liking, including turning them off. Simple, short, but SO FUN!!. Great little game, love theorycrathing games. Absolutely worth the price. Tons of fun, and an insane level of replayablility.. Came for the tech tree, stayed for the terminal.
