About This Game

Broadside is a pirate action adventure game focused on infamy and destruction. Players take on the role of a pirate taking part in tactical ship-to-ship battles and boarding actions. While preying on trade routes, fighting rival pirates and harassing the Royal Navy, the excitement of fast-paced sailing and sinking ships is rewarded with Infamy points.

During ship-to-ship combat, the players can manoeuvre their ship to fire broadside cannons at their enemies. Once crippled, enemy ships can be boarded by drawing close and firing grappling hooks to storm aboard. Onboard fighting includes active parrying, dodging and attacking with the goal of defeating enemy captain and capturing their ship. Combat feels reminiscent of modern action games, but from an isometric view.

bad graphics, bad game play. move along.. Meh

I bought this game expecting something similar to Pirates! and instead got a watered down arcade game. The controls are clunky, the graphics are ugly, and the objective is simply to sail around and blow\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665up for no ryhme or reason. There are no ports that you can land at, you have no crew, and you will be overwhelmed eventually.

Overall if the pricepoint were any higher I would say stay far away from this game, but at 3-5 dollars you get your moneys worth if you play 2 games. Its entertaining enough to justify that, just dont expect a masterpiece... Or even a particularly good piece... This is the gaming equivalent of the cheap minibooks that are in line at a bookstore. However its probably more fun than a coffee from starbucks.. This game screems POTENTIAL!
This game is nothing special; it has neither good graphics nor a story.
But the gameplay is just... ARRRRRRRH (splendid).
Every single ship feels and sails differently, has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Because of that, even after 5 hours and many encounters, every new combat is still fun and enthralling.

I wish one could combine S.M.'s Pirates with that combat mechanic, or port royal.

(5 hours of fun for only 5\u20ac makes it recommandable)
