South Korea reports its first two cases of coronavirus, Delta Plus, today.

South Korea's Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has confirmed that South Korea has confirmed COVID-19 cases. The first 2 Delta Plus strains today.

Covid-19 virus The Delta Plus strain is a subspecies of the delta virus strain first found in India. There is also a mutation doorakhon in the spike protein called K417N, which is also found in the beta strain.

At present, Delta Plus cases are reported to be relatively low. and found only in some countries such as England, Portugal and India.

The KDCA said the first case was a 40-year-old South Korean man with no history of traveling abroad. Later, one family member tested positive for COVID-19, and KDCA has not confirmed whether the family member has been infected with Delta Plus or not.

The second case with Delta Plus infection was a foreign tourist.

The health agency said Many of the mainstream vaccines are resistant to delta strains. But there is concern that new strains may be able to evade further vaccines.

Some scientists say Delta Plus strains may be more contagious. Studies are underway in India and around the world to test the efficacy of the vaccine against this mutant virus.

South Korea reported 1,202 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. A total of 202,203 infections and 2,104 deaths have been reported, while 39% of the population have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 14.1% of those who have received the full dose are vaccinated.

South Korea aims to vaccinate at least 36 million people by the end of September.
