After copper miners discover part of the frozen tail of a prehistoric monster in Lapland, scientists inadvertently bring it back to life.
Copper miners in the tundras of Lapland discover a frozen piece of reptilian tail belonging to some unknown prehistoric creature. Taking the specimen to an aquarium in Copenhagen, Professor Martens (Asbjorn Andersen) gets more than he bargained for when the tail regenerates into a giant, acid spitting monster that terrorizes the country. The Danish military, led by U.N.-appointed American general Mark Grayson (Carl Ottosen) attempts to hunt down the monster and destroy it, only to realize that blowing the thing up will create hundreds of little creatures.
What can I add? Sid Pink, the same guy that brought us Angry Red Planet and the memorable Journey to the Seventh Planet (another gem), the latter with some of the same lame actors: the General and the Professor's two daughters, no less. Who else could get the entire population of Copenhagen immortalized on film?

It's a cheap monster movie. No, it's a tourist film. No, it's a musical (it it real, or is it Ella?). No, it's social commentary on war and the evils of science.

It's all this and less; next, on the Golden Age of Reptilicus, starting now!

Oh, and let's not forget the theme music vaguely reminiscent of My Three Sons with the closing credits. I told Joe Bob Briggs he should have put this on his show, but he wouldn't listen.

All in all, a suitable punishment for anyone who thinks They've Seen It All.

But then, there's always Cave of the Living Dead... I was a bit unsure as to how to vote for this movie. It's qualities as a movie or it's perfectly charming attempt to follow Godzilla's footsteps. I regret to say that I chose the former, which considering that the model builders were obviously hired from Märklin or Airfix doesn't make it very high. Happily Ib Melchior's involvement in last year's Lost in Space was much more convincing in this respect.

How many monster movies have a song and dance interlude? Not many I think it's safe to say. This and his short meeting with Kjeld Petersen makes Dirch Passer, however seldom on screen, the real star of this movie.
