Bond is back and his next mission takes him to Fort Knox, where Auric Goldfinger and his henchman are planning to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. To save the world once again, Bond will need to become friends with Goldfinger, dodge killer hats and avoid Goldfinger's personal pilot, the sexy Pussy Galore. She might not have feelings for Bond, but will 007 help her change her mind?
While investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve.
Some of the movie is a bit dated, but "Goldfinger" today, on DVD, comes across as one of the better "007" movies. Sean Connery was in his early 30s (ee gads, the same as my son!) and in his prime. James Bond movies aren't made to be taken too seriously and this one has a number of humorous moments.

This is the movie with characters like Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman), Odd Job (Harold Sakata), who play sidekicks to Goldfinger (German Gert Frobe), a legitimate gold merchant who seems to be a bit too profitable. It is also the Bond movie where Connery plays golf, in a match against Goldfinger, which starts out rather mild but ends with a gold bar at stake.

If this were not a Connery/Bond movie, much of the story would come across as a bit hokey. But Bond movies all are a bit hokey, and we excuse that.

SPOILERS: Not that anyone still doesn't know the story, but -- while Bond is investigating Goldfinger's excessive wealth, and finds that he smuggles gold across borders by building it into the chassis of cars, he stumbles upon the plot to break into Ft Knox, not to steal the gold, but to set off a nuclear device that would render the gold radioactive, and thus useless, for 58 years. That would make his own stash worth about 10X more. Bond isn't able to foil the plan, but in a short conversation with Galore, the chief pilot, gets her to realize the danger of Goldfinger. So, instead of she and her team spraying a poison over the area including Ft Knox, they spray something harmless and all the troops are instructed to play dead, enabling them to later get the upper hand on the invaders. In a complex set of developments, the bomb is about to go off, but is stopped by one of the men with '007' seconds showing! Nice touch. The movie ends with Bond flying somewhere, and Goldfinger is there, they struggle, Bond shoots a plane window, in a somewhat hokey 'depressurization' sequence Goldfinger gets sucked out of the open port, and Bond and Galore parachute to safety. As the helicopter searches for them, they stay hidden and 'make out' as the movie ends. By no means am I a "James Bond" fan (I hate the Daniel Craig films and stuff like On Her Majesty's Secret Service) for a fact I have mixed feelings about these movies, as many previous reviewers pointed out this is possibly the ONLY bond film where he isn't portrayed as a near-invulnerable womanizing bullet-dodging spy. In this film he fails to protect his girlfriend(s) and fails to stop the main antagonist or not notice an off switch to a bomb.

In Bonds holiday to America he meets a girl who works for a man named Goldfinger, when Bond does his thing he is knocked over the head by his lackey Oddjob and Bond wakes up to see his new-found girlfriend painted gold all over her body (and therefore dead) he then starts to find out that Goldfinger has an obsession with a financial gain so much so he decides to rob Fort Knox, when Bond tries to avert criminal activity he finds the girl's sister who then dies by Oddjob yet again (name one other bond film where something like this happens), he also gets knocked out only to wake up in a plane with a woman named Pussy Galore (come on laugh it up... finished? read on) and then they try to stop Goldfinger from robbing Fort Knox and then blowing it up, James tries to stop the bomb only to find Felix found an "off switch" (what villain does that? Seriously tell me) and later on a plane Bond forces Goldfinger out the window and then the credits roll shortly afterwards.

With that explanation of the plot I will say that it's better than it seems (even though it's not my favourite Bond film but it is close) and I suggest a watching for anyone who wants to see Bond in a new manner other than the other 20+ films. It holds the attention of the audience from brazen start to fantastic finish – well, not quite to the silly end, perhaps, but then we can’t have everything.

After the golf game, Goldfinger invites Bond to his house. Bond snoops around and finds Goldfinger is filming him. He exposes the film and makes it look like Goldfinger's pet cat is to blame. Goldfinger is wise to this and lets Oddjob have the cat for supper. In Switzerland, Bond witnesses Goldfinger making a gold bar drop for SMERSH, which he intercepts. Tilly only tries to kill Goldfinger outside his factory at night, there we learn about Jill's demise. The two are caught outside. Once inside, Bond repeatedly head butts Goldfinger but is knocked out by Oddjob. The laser is a table saw. While it gets closer, Oddjob works Bond's pressure
