Dungeons & Dragons -- Dungeon Master, the Best Job in the Game

If you have never heard of Dungeons and Dragons also known as D&D, think back to the 80's blockbuster movie E. T. In one of the opening scenes someone was the Dungeon Master (this could be a good Simple Pursuit question but what a different article).

So what is a Dungeon Master? In a short answer God. Okay seriously, but in way's it's like that. As a Dungeon Master you are like a director, you will be putting the rest of your group on their toes through the length of the session.

You will be narrating the story, you will be building the world, You will be in control of gifts. You will be giving your player's the chance to battle evil, and turn into successful! Does all this sound fun so far? It can be, but this job has many responsibilities.

First -- You have to prepare your unbelievable journey. Good Dungeon Pga masters will work extra hard between sessions to be ready with 4 to 5 encounters that will happen on game night.

Second -- You will need a new to play in. Will you weave an intricate tale? Will you start off small with just a dungeon and a town? Either way you go, your players are going to expect you to know. So anticipate to be quick on your feet. dnd dice case

Third -- This is the part most DM's love. You get to play enemies. The purpose of playing enemies and villains is to not slaughter your players but to make an element of suspense, excitement, and belief.

Fourth -- Referee, as a Dungeon Master you will have to make decisions and rulings that will come up that aren't in the game. You will have to get caught up with your players' characters. Knowing what your players are aiming for will help you in the long run.

There are many more tasks associated with being a Dungeon Master. It may seem like a daunting task but like everything in life with a little practice and imagination, you can make a great DM.
