Rough girl Perdita and her demonic lover Romeo Dolorosa need humans to sacrifice following Romeo's religion before he can go on a mission ordered by mob boss Santos. They kidnap teen sweethearts Duane and Estelle and travel with them to Las-Vegas.
Perdita Durango meets Romeo Dolorosa, a criminal who is some sort of priest of a satanic cult and keeps crossing the Mexican-US border safely. He's asked to do a job for crime boss Santos, involving the traffic of human foetuses for the cosmetic industry. Meanwhile, he needs to make a sacrifice to please his gods and a young American couple comes in his and Perdita's way. They are being followed by an unlucky DEA agent, the father of the kidnapped girl, an old partner which Romeo double-crossed and the previous boss to whom he owes a lot of money. He doesn't like what he reads in the cards...
Despite almost universal condemnation of this film by critics, I found this to be an absolutely fantastic ride of a film, Alex de la Iglesia's latest film after El dia dela Bestia,Perdita Durango showed what an immense talent that Iglesia is, ranging in styles from a thriller thru to a road movie this is a movie that HAS to be seen.

With outstanding performances by all the lead characters this is a film that is able to transcend genres by the sheer audacity of the directors approach to the material, which is based (loosely) on a true story, yes all the characters are abhorrent but who cares this is not a film where you need to like the characters, it's more a film about where you like the two victims in the film are taken along for the ride, and you are not going to be freed until the end of the film.

I personally cannot wait until Alex de la Iglesia's next film hits the cinemas. I normally do not like ultra-violent movies unless they are done with a dark comedy approach like Natural Born Killers. Dance With The Devil is ultra-violent & with a super dark comedy approach

Javier Bardem & Rosie Perez are well matched in this tale of sex, violence & mayhem. The direction is fast paced & edited in a furious manner that will both startle you & make you chuckle at the same time.

Javier Bardem is magnificent as the crazed witch doctor bandit. & Rosie Peres proves she is a first rate actress James Gandolfini play a DEA agent to perfection. Harley Cross as the young kidnapped teen is a lad to watch for in future films. He is both scared & naive throughout & is just marvelous,

This is not for the Squeamish or for children.
