Can a retired medical doctor still prescribe medication?

Can a retired medical doctor still prescribe medication? Or it is illegal?

Good day. As I know retired doctor can legally prescribe medications if he or she has an active medical license until it expires. Your medical diploma doesn't expire, so problem is only in license.
