Zafehouse Diaries is back!

The cult hit from 2012 is now bigger, better and more terrifying than ever. Take control of a group of people - each with their own skills, motivations and prejudices - and try to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Every hour, designate tasks for your handful of survivors and then read what happens in your dynamically updating diary.

There are several different scenarios. Most are based around achieving an objective: get to the rescue point, repair a car, stop the military. But others are open-ended and can be played for as long as you can survive.

Zafehouse Diaries 2 has a wide range of customisation options. There are many ways to adjust the game’s difficulty and add custom content, including survivors, occupations and items.

• Custom game options: Change variety of gameplay options, from item distribution and zombie strength, to relationships and dilemmas
  
• Survivors: Create your own survivors and configure their occupation, gender, sexuality and more. Choose from dozens of built-in portraits or import your own
  
• Group creator: Customise special groups of survivors - including their prejudices - to control exactly who you want in your game
  
• Occupations: Add new occupations, configure their bonuses, and assign them to your custom survivors
  
• Item editor: Design new items, import photos and even add your own sound effects

How does Zafehouse Diaries 2 differ from the original?
At its core, Zafehouse Diaries 2 is the same strategic drama simulator as the original, but it expands on it in every way: added content, upgraded engine, more surprises, more madness.

I loved the original. Will I like this?
Yes! We've taken all the great bits that our fans loved about the original, smoothed out the rough edges, and expanded on it. While we've added some extra complexity around combat and orders, we've also made the systems quick and easy to use, and included a smart set of defaults if you just want to go with the flow.

What are some of the new gameplay features?
You have more control over how your survivors breach and investigate locations. You can also equip your survivors with a weapon that they will always use.

Some orders have more granular options - if you notice zombies massing to the north, then you can focus your barricading efforts on north-facing entrances.

We've also overhauled many parts of the interface so it's easy to see what's going on. The most obvious example is the location layout, but you can also easily check your survivors' skills, injuries and special modifiers.

Are survivor relationships important?
Absolutely. We've refined the system so you can have more ways to change relationships. In addition to the rumour system, we’ve added a new option: redemptions.

This involves one survivor being asked to do certain tasks to 'redeem' themselves in the eyes of another, which removes a prejudice. It's also more obvious what might happen to relationships during a dilemma, so you can tactically choose an option that improves relationships.

Is combat still brutal?
Combat is still the most dangerous aspect of the game, but you have more control over breaching. For example, you can equip survivors and select how cautious they should be while breaching. Furthermore, survivors are more likely to flee if things are looking pretty grim. If you still find it hard, then you can tweak the difficulty settings. 6d5b4406ea

Fun little game and well designed, but it gets repetitive fairly quickly. Priced appropriately given its complexity. Neat concept.. Liked the first one, loved this one. Could use some more rebalance and bug fixes, sometimes the location shows up as 'unexplored' even though I have all 5 survivors in it. Weird, but I'm sure it'll be fixed soon. Devs are nice.. You've got your team of misfits drawn randomly each scenario. Then you have to make the most of it and it is quite a difficult challenge.

* Figure out who is best for the task and then puzzle a routine so that the others don't get annoyed one of them isn't pulling his weight.

* Spread rumours to heal/hinder relationships.

* Kill zombies and outlaws

* Kill the occasional old lady who wants to trade with your band of misfits.

Cons:

* Settings are quite poor. The intro theme is amazing but you cannot have it play during the map.
* There's no music during game play.
* The UI could work a little better although it is functional.


All in all this is a fantastic little game and generously priced.. Great work on Zafehouse Diaries 2, a good step up.. I've played like 5 hours for it and this game has some of the issues about The Diary open and close page,time turn (keeps crash),Survivors opinion,The Events that sometimes crashed the game and Food problem.What i've played for a while the food going 50% rotten for some reason i've been thinking like why is the food is gonna rotten after i searched the house and instantly rotten like WTF ?.And yeah this game is Awesome for have to keep trying new strategies and plans but hopefully the food problem need to be fixed.And also this game is quite good for my opinion

. It's what I expected. Zafehouse with more options. Yes, there are bugs to be ironed out, but nothing serious. It's definitely worth its pricetag.. As an avid player of the first game, I absolutely love this game. If you played and enjoyed the first one, you'll love this one. If you have any second thoughts about this game, buy it then play the tutorial. It should be done under an hour if you're quick enough. And if you dont like it, then refund it. This game is great for killing time. Zafehouse Diaries is a FANTASTIC game! It requires strategy, risk-taking and some RNG. I would highly reccomend this to anyone. This game is realistic, challenging and requires you to be smart to win! Go buy this game if you havent already. DO IT!. I put a lot of hours into the first game and eventually heard about a sequel and became excited as I knew many issues would be addressed and improved. Here’s the sequel and I was very disappointed. The game was far too similar to the first, with the types of changes which should have been patched into the first version.

I had to get a refund, with the primary reason being the ugly icons that represented actions in the game. I just couldn’t get over how annoying and aesthetically unpleasing these were. They really put me off the game. In a text based game it would make more sense to have the text of what the action is, not an ugly icon/button to perform such an action.

Hat’s off to the developer though, as I believe this is a one person show. I do think there is a lot of potential here for another game, but with all the issues resolved.

A final pet peeve is that the maps are far too small, in this version and within the first game. I think there could be an opportunity here for exploration within a larger world. I'd also like to see a strong gameplay function to make your mark in the world so you have a spot that feels like home, rather with a goal of purely surviving and/or escaping.. One of my favourite series on Steam, and this game does not disappoint.

I've played alot of action zombie games and, well, honestly they end up being too freaky for me. Maybe it's because of the forceful running towards my screen and the panic that sets in, or its the screaming and screeching noise that goes along with it. Could also be either the frenzy of a horde of flesheaters or that one truly scary f***. Maybe it's a combination of all those things. Either way, it gets harder and harder to motivate myself to put more hours into those games. I've just been spooked too many times.

This game is different. It's scary, true, but in a way that gets you nervous but never screamish. I'd say its the strategic top-down view that does this, as well as the plot you get to create yourself that kind of gets the game acting alot like a board game. In fact, I think this game would be great as one, and has quite a few similarities with e.g. Dead at Winter.

It's also that kind of game that doesn't present you with one super-character that helps you beat it all. Some are better than others, but the police officer, firefighter or mechanic aren't always as good as you'd think - you'll find yourself praising sweet Jebus once you get that cleaner or cook that can get your meals from one star up to four, or the mayor that helps ease the tension between your crew. My most prized character in my crew of five was an elderly teacher that somehow got along with everyone, which is rare, and also helped them teach each other new skills.

You'll be really bummed out when your characters die - especially if they're on a simple investigation mission or get infected - which I guess brings me back to one of the great things about this game: I care. And I want to play it just one more time, knowing that whoever I end up with, wherever they start and whatever happens, I get to create another random awesome story and tune out for a few hours without my heart racing.
