I just finished this game a few minutes ago and here are my thoughts. This game is AWESOME. Like the other YS games, this game has an awesome soundtrack to listen to. SOme of the puzzles stumped me for a few minutes but I was able to figure them out after some trial & error. If you are a fan of the Ys series I highly recommend picking this game up and playing it for yourself. Now here's look towards me playing Ys 8.. had alot of fun playing it as i have with all the other Ys games however i do think this is the worst of the Ys games that is on steam, story was not something that intrested me and the ending was just terrible some bosses felt boring and some dumb but some of them were good. still enjoyed playing it and i will give it a 6/10 if you like Ys games you should still play this and if you are new to Ys you should try another one.. Alright lets do this then. Gameplay: Its Ys, its fast paced and challenging but fair. The controls are really smooth, the characters are all good and the boss fights are a major treat with the exception of one boss who has a little too much HP, at least from my experience. Going around completing quests in trails in the sky fashion is also a bonus. The areas are all really interesting and fun and you can even find optional boss fights. The gameplay, which is the most important thing in a Ys game is fantastic as ever here. The soundtrack: Its Ys.come on of course its amazing. I was rocking the entire way through. The story: Ohhhhh boy. Look we don't play Ys for its story but this game really by the numbers. And I will say this right now, it has one of the most rushed endings I have ever seen in a falcom game. It just.ends. The characters have decently interesting dialogue between them and I do like them for that. Also while not as detailed as the trails games, the NPCs have arcs. And one character General Leo is easily my favorite character from this game. We see a decent amount of him but I really wish he had more screen time. He is one of those comic releaf characters that are also very capable on their own right. So overall my opinion of this game is very positive. I still prefer Ys Origin but out of all the Ys games that I have played this is probably my second favorite one. It has a certain charm to it that no other Ys games have for me.. Japanese Vioce MOD :. Another year, another good Ys port from the fine folks at XSEED. Clearly Hyde Inc. was able to learn from their growing pains from their first port -- Ys SEVEN -- because as far as I can tell, there were significantly less issues with MoC on launch than its predecessor. The folks over at NIS America could learn a thing or two from this port -- the best I've heard from someone defending the Ys VIII PC port was that in "only" crashed 15 times during 50 hours of gameplay. You want to know how many times MoC crashed on me? Zero. Granted, I started playing the game roughly a week after launch, so I may have benefited from some later patches. Memories of Celceta is an interquel, taking place between Ys II and Oath in Felghana. It's Falcom's own take on Ys IV, which was previously farmed out to two other companies -- Tonkin House's downright mediocre Mask of the Sun for the Super Famicom, which was considered canonical by Falcom until MoC came out and Alfa System's The Dawn of Ys for the PC Engine, generally considered the best of the bump combat-style Ys games. Of course, neither of these versions came out in North America or Europe in any official capacity, so MoC gets the edge on that front. The game starts with Adol wandering around the town of Casnan, having completely lost his memory. He stumbles his way into the local inn before collapsing. Once he recovers, he makes the acquaintanceship of Duren, an information broker, who decides to help Adol, as he has a reputation for finding adventure (and therefore, useful information). Soon after, they are tasked by the local governess Griselda to explore and map out the mysterious forests of Celceta. Throughout the journey, Adol is reintroduced to people he met on his previous journey (one he has unfortunately forgotten) and finds many mysterious artifacts, stumbling upon another world-ending crisis as he often does. Memories of Celceta runs on a refined version of Ys SEVEN's engine, thus the party system from the previous game returns. This game also manages to add a new defense mechanic: the "Flash Move". If the player's character is able to dodge an enemy attack at a specific moment, the enemies onscreen slowdown for a brief period, similar to Bayonetta's Witch Time. Unlocking new special attacks is also different from the previous game, they're obtained by defeating a set number of "difficult" enemies. Frankly, I think I preferred the old system. The original release also included various touch puzzles that exploited the Vita's touch screen and touchpad, but later updates allowed them to be performed with standard controls (to make the game compatible with PSTV). The PC version allows players to use their mouse or the controller, which is a nice touch. XSEED and Hyde did a much better job on the graphics this time around, managing to even offset the filters present in the original Vita version of the game -- though a similar bloom option is available in the game. On top of that, they managed to even exceed (ha ha!) Ys SEVEN's 60 FPS, offering 120 frames per second and even uncapped, though the latter isn't particularly recommended. So just like the previous game (and every other Ys game XSEED's released on here), I'd recommend you pick it up if you're in the mood to play a damn fine action RPG. As with the previous game, it's a little on the easy side -- I did my first run on Hard Mode, just like with SEVEN.. I had a great time playing Ys: Memories of Celceta. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fast-paced action games. Here are my thoughts, point-by-point: Gameplay: I played on Nightmare (hardest) difficulty, using a controller. The controls are dead simple, but the gameplay is fast and fun. Combat involves normal attacks along with an activatable skill system and a dodge/parry mechanic. Skills, especially when they're finishing blows, feel very satisfying to use. The boss fights are exciting and well-designed. My only compaint is that the difficulty curve for nightmare is far too difficult in the beginning relative to the rest of the game. Level Design: The world is fairly big, but the player will take a mostly linear path through each major area in the world. There's fast travel and a little bit of backtracking. Graphics: Good but not mind-blowing. Sound: The OST is amazing, as usual for Ys games. Sound effects are satisfying. The voice acting is somewhat lacking and sometimes irritating, however. Characters and plot: The plot was fairly average as far as RPGs go, but some of the scenes were great. I like the main cast, but they don't have much depth. The supporting characters were not very interesting. Some of the quests are enjoyable, but the rest feel like chores. Technical/Bugs: No crashes or bugs. An external configuration menu is provided for keybindings and graphical options.. Crashes every 30 min and delets the save files.. A broken port that I can't possibly recommend in its current form. No matter which resolution I choose, the game automatically runs at 4096 x 2160, resulting in big, black borders. Even if I lower the resolution of my screen, the game still keeps using 4096 x 2160. I have tried every single suggestions I've read and nothing has resolved the issue. I'm getting pretty fed up with troubleshooting by now, so I'm going to demand a refund if I can't find a solution soon.
