15€?! Okay, the game is kinda similar to Star Saviors, but:
- Star Saviors is 14€ cheaper
- Star Saviors has nice controls,
- and isn't bugged.

Here we are poor voice acting with awkward "story". And clunky controls (even worse at xbox controller) that often get stuck which makes it impossible to run away and/or shoot at anything. But even with working controls, it's more of a gamble than actual steering. It's chaotic, it's uncoordinated, it offers no pleasure from playing and killing enemy ships.

And it's really cool that the missions in the game are different. It's cool that you can create your own maps or play some made by other players. It's cool that multiplayer is there as well. But all of it is for nothing with these controls.

And after all, it's just DAMN UGLY. (Want a game in space that looks pretty? Solar Flux. Or even Particle Mace if you want similar gameplay. You're welcome.)

I got it from a giveaway. If you really, REALLY want to play it - don't spend 15€ on this ffs. Get a second-hand key from any reseller and for the rest of the money buy some beers. Then after you'll realize how poorly made this game is, you'll be able to at least drink to ease the regret of wasting money.. It's a fun, arcadey, shoot em' up, with many different modes of play, such as the solo Story Missions (recommended to play these first to get a feel for the game), and plenty of multiplayer modes, with the usuals, of deathmatch, team deathmatch, ctf, base conquer, and attack/defend modes. There's also a plethora of upgrade items for your ship as you level it up, stronger and unique weapons, better engines for faster movement, utility items for tighter movement control and longer boost time, faster energy recharge, larger enrgy pool, force shields etc, and armor upgrades that reduce damage taken and increase your HP.

As stated in other "reviews", there isn't much going with multiplayer right now, but the game was just released a week ago. If you tell people to avoid this game, there won't be a player base for your multiplayer that you seem to want so badly.

Controls in the game can seem a bit quirky, but the controls can be remapped however you want them. Better controller support is also going to happen soon, or so i was told by the dev.

And just for fun, here's a video of some of my gameplay in a few of the multiplayer modes.

https://youtu.be/rDEal-kwMps. Everything about this game is bad. Eh... you might like it if you enjoy Asteroids or Maelstrom type of games but less arcady.

Also seems to be intended for multiplayer.

I personally... did not enjoy it much.. Wow, the UI and ham-fisted dialogue are an exceptional turn-off. Having my ship bounce off everything is also quite bizarre; I don't understand why I don't simply pass over planets rather than ricochet off them? With how sluggish and "bouncy" the movement system is, combined with the maze-like levels and its barriers, I feel like I'm controlling the ball-bearing in a pinball game. Even the A.I. has a difficult time navigating these maps.

It's really hard to maintain a suspension of disbelief when I'm playing levels where asteroids have conveniently formed eccentric patterns in order to create mazes for the player to navigate. I just don't get it, nothing feels particularly sci-fi about Yargis. The music, the UI, the graphics... it all feels like I'm playing some kind of shareware game from the DOS days but Yargis fails to be as quirky and fun.

There's currently no one playing online so I tried one of the official servers with a bunch of A.I., the goal of having to destroy a number of generators whilst battling all opponents, and then the generators regenerate... either I don't understand what I'm doing (the game doesn't explain much other than basic objectives) or it's actually impossible without extensive upgrades to my ship or a competent - and human - team.. I played a few levels but wasn't really having any fun. I nnever tried multiplayer, but as an indie game that likely didn't sell too many copies, I'd imagine it's dead and not something that should even be considered for the purchase. Even when they put it 90% off during every sale so it's $1, I can't really recommend it unless you think it looks fun. You'd probably get an hour or so of fun out of it, but there are certainly better games for that price out there.. Nobody can make good space game so nope.
