I am a big fan of all previos versions, but Tropico 6 has many bugs. The biggest problem is the economy. Workers are simply not effective and factories, although full with raw resources produce little or no goods, which results in weak economy and bancrupcy. I am very familiar with all previous version and can say that I am very good in plannng large cities, suplly chains, etc. Hope game gets fixed soon.. Tropico 5 with all it's DLC's had a lot more content than any title before it, but the economy, infrastructure management and AI all got messed up because of this which resulted in a completely broken game. Luckily the mods turned Tropico 5 into what is was supposed to be and allowed me to pour a couple of hundreds of hours of game play into of it.

I participated in the Tropico 6 beta, which was extremely limited in terms of the amount of content we were allowed to access and test. The entire modern era was not available for testing during the entire beta phase.

Now that Tropico 6 has been released and I have invested a decent amount of hours into it, I am very disappointed. The AI is far less intelligent than the previous rendition, the speed of the game has been incredibly reduced, which means it takes a worker a couple of months to do everything they need to do before they return to work for a 1 or 2 month shift, even if you build everything they need right next to their place of work, which means that you have at most 2 or 3 workers actively doing their job at any given point in time in each building, which renders most industries a long term net loss. Entire teamster offices will take off simultaneously for months at a time resulting in the entire economy coming to a halt whilst expenses never seem to slow down, which ends up in a constant struggle just to maintain a positive net balance.

There is no way of seeing how much wealth any building provides to it's workers, and residential building budget has no impact on the wealth requirement for said residential building. Which means that you have no way of controlling who is poor, well-off, rich etc. and you have no way of determining what type of housing should go where.

Workers are extremely lazy, they would rather live in a shack in the most polluted industrial area of the island than move to a nice residential area with supermarkets, entertainment, schools etc which are only a block away from where they work.

There is no edict to control rent and allow all poor or retired people to afford housing, only an edict to make all housing 100% free, which is impossible to do when you can barely keep your budget in the positive, which means that it's impossible to provide housing for the elderly without crashing the entire economy, so a high elderly population always means a high homeless population.

This whole game right now is just a mess in terms of mechanics, logistics, infrastructure and AI, and the modern era is extremely lacking in content.

I am a big fan of Tropico, but this rendition has been a massive disappointment for me thus far.. Probably the best of the franchise - and that's saying a lot. This is one of the very few games that I have consistently bought, played for thousands of hours, over and over again with every new iteration of the game. Here we are on #6, and I couldn't be happier with it. Fantastic job of combining all of the very best elements and getting rid of the worst! Soooo addictive! 5 stars out of 5.. I am really enjoying the game. I had read some negative comments about the game but I have found that they are probably niche frustrations, because as a whole this is very fun. I haven't seen a downside to it at all. Worth the money. Especially if you love Tropico!. I love the Tropico Series and this is familiar and good. However, it's not a vast improvement from the ones that came before. I think the price is WAY too severe for what content is available now as well as all the bugs and hardcore difficulty of stabilizing your economy to be able to build the fun stuff. I'm not impressed. I feel like I was ripped off paying 3x more than an indie builder game with more content, especially knowing the company is sure to release expansions they will charge an enormous price for when it should already be added in.
You know, Tropico 2: Pirate's Cove was gold. Why can't they just give us a better version of that one?. Only played for an hour or so, but enjoying it so far. It's not as easy to win as with previous games, takes a bit more thought and planning, and I do miss the constant chatter from the NPCs but otherwise, I'll be playing a lot more of it :). El Presidente says that a real Campaign is the way of a failing nation! This series of scenarios unlocked by completing a number of previous scenarios is the way of Tropico's bustling future! If you disagree, El Presidente and his network of spies *cough cough* journalists, would love to have a private word with you!

As El Presidente I do declare that features from times past are best left in the past. The features included today are a clear upgrade compared to our ancestors!

*gunshots and riots in the background*

El Presidente is everyone's favorite leader! One might go so far as to declare him a Prophet!

*riots are quieted by a well placed drone strike*

This new tax cut is in no way a bribe affiliated with the recent uprisings, and is a token of generosity by our beloved El Presidente!

Remember to vote El Presidente! .... or else..... I like the game. Good graphics, great humor, great writing. Some things need to be adjusted.

Upgrades to production buildings that involve decreasing the number of jobs in exchange for efficiency turn out to be a downgrade because keeping the worker is more efficient. All the entertainment buildings are money pits, with the exception of the night club, which makes a lot of money.

Tourism is frustrating. One either gets no tourists, and if one gets tourists, all the hotels lose money. It's not worth it to run tourism.

The rebel molotov instant attacks cannot be blocked. None of the army buildings have time to respond, not even the drones.

Some people stay in shacks even if you build a free block house next to them. Open work spots sometimes do not get filled by the unemployed with the appropriate education.

I would like to see a social security edict for the children and elderly.

I look forward to the patches and improvements.
