The high speed railways of France, dominated by the iconic TGV® Duplex, are brought to life in the breathtaking new Ligne Grande Vitesse: Marseille Saint-Charles to Avignon-TGV route for Train Simulator.

Construction of the LGV Méditerranée began in 1996, designed as a dedicated high speed line that spans over 160 miles to connect the South-East of France to the nation’s capital, Paris. The LGV Méditerranée extends from the end of the LGV Rhône-Alpes in Valence and terminates at Marseille via Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
Opened in 2001, the LGV Méditerranée is operated by SNCF® with TGV Duplex high speed trains, operating on the 25kV AC catenary system, capable of reaching 320 km/h. These revolutionary high speed trains slashed journey times to the South coast of France with TGVs now handling the vast majority of all journeys in France, covering some 750 km (470 miles) in around 3 hours – faster than some domestic airlines.

The line serves a total of 4 stations, featuring three purpose-built structures, the Gare de Valence TGV, a uniquely built multi-level station allowing easy transfer between the high speed and local services, Gare d’Avignon TGV, made popular by its close proximity to Avignon city centre and Gare d'Aix-en-Provence TGV, allowing easy travel into the north of Marseille and Marseille Airport, accessible by regular bus services. The final station is Marseille-Saint-Charles - a terminus station previously built to serve the surrounding area and the French Riviera, access to this station is via the classic French main lines.

Due to the undulating nature of Southern France’s terrain, the LGV Méditerranée features many steep inclines and declines, not to mention the impressive number of vast cuttings, tunnels and viaducts that traverse the landscape, the longest tunnel being over 8 km (5 Miles) long. Not only is the outstanding scenery a wonder to behold, the LGV Med. regularly sees 300 – 320 km/h operation providing a fast, reliable service with the beautiful southern France countryside flying past the upper and lower windows.

The route is equipped with the TVM430 (Transmission Voie-Machine) signalling system, a revolutionary in-cab signalling system designed for operating high speed trains in high capacity. Conventional signalling is not practical for very high speed routes, as drivers have very little time to see and react to what flies past the windscreen. TVM430 displays information in the cab telling the driver what speed he should be travelling at, without the need for conventional track-side equipment.
Included with the 100km Marseille to Avignon high speed route is the iconic TGV Duplex in SNCF livery.

This was a nice and long waited route and train. If you like high speed trains this route is for you.Of course there is not much "action" since it's a high speed train but i love it. The only negative i have for this is that when you are going very fast, you can see the trees in the far popping up cause they didn't have enoigh time to render.
Overall it's a nice route and i hope for more French routes in the future. I recommend maybe with sale if you don't want to spend much.
P.S. This route has achievements and it's fairly possible to get them all.. Well overall not too bad but for 40 bucks id say its a no go. Id pay at MOST 25-30. The route looks great and so does the Duplex however keep in mind the run takes around 20 minutes to complete, so its not lengthy at all. Although at the speeds the TGV is moving its understable why. However I cannot recommend this route at all to anyone until the cab shake is fixed, its is abosulteley unacceptbale for that to happen. How did they test the route and think that charging 40 bucks with that shaking going on was okay, do they even care what there putting out?!? Don't get me wrong its not even like alittle bouncing (although that does happen along the rest of the route even though it shouldnt on a TGV) but that I can deal with. In certain spots the train will actually start leaping up and down, almost like an earthquake. What on earth were they thinking? Great train and great route but the glitches and short ride really spoil it for me. 7\/10.
!PATCH NEEDED ASAP!. This is the best route on Train Sim, even though there is faster routes they all have some quirks. But this route is just plain awesome the train doesnt drive its self which is so fun, I would highly reccomend this route to anyone!. The route is just over 90km and can be done in 25 minuits from Maseille to Avignon and is a bit short. Its very hilley and fun to drive.

Dynamic brake isnt great
train can get very bumpy (Its worse than a pacer)

over all worth getting 8\/10. First of all the dynamic brake is waaay too weak. It barely slows the train down and I have to apply the normal brake to slow me down enough before I pass the next signal. I don't think the normal brakes should be used at 300 km\/h.

It's shaking too much. Especially in the tunnel. It's rediculous. The TGV should be a smooth ride.

No other traffic? It feels like I am the last man on earth.

There are a couple of bugs. For example; brakes won't properly release after an emergency braking and at some point the traction lever doesn't work anymore. You can see the amp meter jump back to 0 very quickly. Can be bypassed by using the cruisecontrol, which work sluggish. It's little things that will be fixed... I hope.


Of course there are also good things.

The sound is done very well. Maybe a bit too quiet though. The traction engines should be heard over the rail noice.

Cabin view looks nice. So does the pasenger view.

French routes in the future?


I was eagerly awaiting a TGV route but I am a bit disapointed. Especially for the \u20ac30,- I paid. Route's too short and there's isn't much going on. And on top of that the train drives not so well with the shaking and bad brakes. Perhaps a patch someday?
