Following the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller and his men are charged with finding the so-called weapons of mass destruction, whose existence justified American involvement, according to the Pentagon and their man in Baghdad, Poundstone. Veteran CIA operative Marty tells Miller that there are no weapons, it is a deception to allow the Americans to take over the country and install a puppet leader. Also suspicious of Poundstone is Wall Street Journal reporter Lawrie Dayne, who lets slip to Miller that Poundstone told her he had secret talks in Jordan with an important Iraqi, code-named Magellan, who told him about the weapons, though it now seems likely Magellan's true information was to the contrary. So begins a hunt for the truth. Who's playing whom?
Discovering covert and faulty intelligence causes a U.S. Army officer to go rogue as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region.
Documentary-style camera is a fad I'll be happy to see the end of. Like the last big technique in film-making, the jump-cut, it is best used sparingly, and has to support the story. While it was appropriate for a film of this type, perhaps using it in the dark, for 20 minutes, during a chase scene was ill advised.

Add to that the worst ending since The Ghosts of Mars and a lot of insane leaps of logic and you've got a recipe for a terrible movie experience. Really? He gets shot by the one-legged man?

And then follow that up with a report emailed to every major news outlet while a reported reads it with a glint in her eye and the vaguest of smiles? Give me a break.

And the message was a little heavy handed. While I'm quite sure that the evidence for going into Iraq was exaggerated in real life, the whole movie seemed like a string of "WMDs! No WMDs! Lies about WMDs? WMDs are why we're here! WMDs, WMDs, WMDs!!!11!"

It's a shame, because there was a good movie in there screaming to get out. Another rewrite and a better director could have done wonders for this film. Green Zone

The war in Iraq has contributed quite a lot to the economic wellbeing of many hardworking Americans, specifically those who specialize in the construction of coffins, as well as those who manufacture American flags to drape over said coffins.

And while this fictitious action/thriller isn't concerned with those folks who'll shroud and build the caskets, it does address those who'll occupy them.

In the wake of America's 2003 invasion of Iraq, Chief Warrant Officer Miller (Matt Damon) and his squadron are tasked with the mission of locating weapons of mass destruction. After turning up empty-handed, Miller begins to question the validity of his intel, even though a government official (Greg Kinnear) stands behind it. Later, Miller encounters a plucky journalist (Amy Ryan) who confirms his worst fears: the Pentagon is establishing a puppet government in order to gain access to Iraqi oil supplies.

While it follows in a long line of post-9/11 war movies, Green Zone actually adds a little more action to its anti-war sentiment and conspiracy theorizing, thanks impart to Paul Greengrass' kinetic, albeit dizzying, direction.

Fortunately, America no longer needs to invade other countries for oil, since the Gulf of Mexico is now covered in it. In interviews prior to his trial Saddam dismissed Bin Laden as a 'zealot' who would encourage Islamic extremism in largely secular Iraq.
