Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief, assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff where he continues his criminal activities. His past seems to haunt him by those he betrayed years earlier. This ex-con imposes his own brand of justice where violence erupts at every turn in the not so quiet Amish town of Banshee, Pennsylvania.
A man has just been released from jail after serving a 15-year sentence. He sets out to find his former girlfriend, and tracks her down to Banshee, Pennsylvania, a small, peaceful-looking Amish town. When he gets there he is witness to the murder of the newly-arrived Sheriff, Lucas Hood. As he needs to start a new life, and nobody knew what the new Sheriff looked like, he assumes his identity. Little does he realize the danger he has put himself in. Meanwhile, his pre-prison past is catching up with him too.
There is a fatal flaw in this show that renders it absolutely boring & painful to watch. The problem is...when the writers favour certain characters or factions...they make it ANNOYINGLY clear to the audience.

The action is treated like 1950's children's comic-book fiction...with the hero surviving every absurd murder attempt imaginable. Oh but don't worry, because the action is presented in full-frontal contemporary glory...so you get all the unrestricted CGI & gore modern television allows.

You could forgive that...if the show wasn't always trying to climax in an orgy of violence. But really, everything that happens...happens to setup some monumental fight...where the winner is so obvious & pre-determined.

Why bother watching? The sex?

Okay, there's sex. I remember it being hot maybe one time. But most of the time...it looks sad & pathetic. And occasionally, it looks kind of pedo-like. So for all you poor beta's who like to take out frustrations on even lower-grade sexual partners...this show guarantees you at least 5 minutes of entertainment per-episode.

Really, whatever audience this show has...it has...because its audience seems unaware of Al-Queda propaganda videos & Larry Flynt's pornography company. What this show delivers on TV in an hour...those two deliver in under 5 minutes online. I got a early Christmas present in the form of a chrome cast, my brother in law is here visiting and was logging into his premium channels for us to watch some some movies on the CC, I came across this show, and gave it a go, and was totally hooked! I binge watched the entire first season in 2 days, then I started the second season and gotta say, I could see a marked difference in the story, meaning they are trying too hard to develop one! It went from "ok a decent storyline" with a lot of "Holy smokes" in every episode to Hey what happened? this is starting to look like they want to turn him into a good guy here, with a way overdeveloped love plot. no no no no! this is not what we want, did you guys get a new writer or something? Bring back the crazy shenanigans and blow stuff up with a bunch of crazy plot twists! There is a ton of boring drama shows already. Im not sure if I will even finish the last 3 episodes of season 2 as I'm just "meh" with it now. (ok I admit I will, just to make sure i don't miss something) but if doesn't get better I wont watch season 3 in Jan.
