In a war-torn world of elemental magic, a young boy reawakens to undertake a dangerous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, and bring peace to the world.
In a lost age the world is divided into four equal powers: Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. In each nation there's a group of gifted people known as Benders who have the ability to manipulate their native element using martial arts and elemental magic. For thousands of years the nations lived together peacefully. But then disaster struck. The young ruler of the Fire Nation, Fire Lord Sozin, began a war of world conquest. The only one who could have prevented it was the Avatar. The Avatar is the human incarnation of the Spirit of Light, he alone can master bending all four elements. But, just when he was needed most, he disappeared. Now, 100 years later, a young Waterbender named Katara and her older brother Sokka stumble upon the long lost Avatar, Aang, who was encased in an iceberg for 100 years. They must help Aang master all four elements before summer when Sozin's grandson Fire Lord Ozai will use a comet to deal one last deadly strike against the other nations and claim a Fire Nation victory. But, all that is easier said than done with the Fire Lord's determined and hot-tempered son, Prince Zuko, hot on their trail.
The First time I saw this a was maybe about 6. I think anyway I still watch it to this day. It's a great show and a number of age's will like it. It has something all the other cartoons don't have I have no Idea how too word all my thoughts on this show so the last thing I will say is WATCH IT NOW if you haven't yet It's probably the best show I'v seen. I like this show because it's original also It's got Funny scenes, Serious scenes, and Romantic scenes other cartoons may only have Funny scenes witch make's it get old soon The characters are great to and it doesn't just focus on one person it tells every ones story.It also resembles Earth's History of culture and war
What's good about Avatar: The Last Airbender? Pretty much everything is good. It seems like a flawless show that truly lives up to your expectations every episode. There are funny episodes, emotional episodes, serious episodes, and think of anything that you would consider good and the show has it all. Great characters and so much emotion are just a couple things that are so good about this program. Keep in mind as this show follows a direct storyline, there are minor spoilers but nothing major, only the revealing of few characters.

The show take place long ago, where the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and a waterbender and her brother discovered the new Avatar. And although his airbending skills are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But the main character believes this new Avatar can save the world. Well, that is what the main character claims in the opening narration. The Avatar has been frozen for 100 years and the world has lived without him. The opening narration is bone chilling, but it appears every episode and eventually you just want to skip through it as it becomes very irritating after a long time.

The show follows Katara, Aang, and Sokka and their travels across the world as they try and get Aang to learn the four elements that can stop the Fire Nation from taking over the world. However, there are villains who are constantly trying to stop or kill the group. There is Zuko, the prince who has been banished from the Fire Nation, and son of Ozai, the firelord. There is Azula, Zuko's sister, and her two other companions named Mai and Ty Lee, who are some of my favourites from the show. There is also Zuko's uncle, Iroh, the very wise man who is patient and tried to teach his beliefs to Zuko, even though he clearly is impatient with his uncle. There are also minor characters who appear every so often that interact with the group. During the second season, a young, blind girl named Toph joins the group and teaches Aang earthbending. She's such a fun character and is so tough, they are the most unlikely person to be a hero. There is Aang's flying Bison named Appa and Momo who is a lemur who has no major and significant role at all. But these two characters make the show so much funnier every time they are on screen.

One of my favourite things about this show is that there are so many episodes that range from the emotions that are meant to be felt. There are scenes where the scenarios were intense, making it much more suspenseful. Other times there are just simply hilarious moments. In a scene in Season Three that the main character is hallucinating that he is watching his flying bison and a lemur speaking to him. Then they take it to the next level and then these two animals have a sword fight. I can't help but laugh at this for some reason.

The characters are another thing that make the show what it is. There is Aang, the Avatar who is supposed to master the four elements, water, fire, earth, and air, however he must learn these to stop a ruthless firelord and multiple descendants of his that are trying to eliminate Aang who is the only person who can stop Ozai. Mai is my favourite though. She is such a lazy character and is always feeling so depressed and hates everything. Even her way of saying "I love you", happens to be "I don't hate you". She refuses to do anything she doesn't want to do but is still loyal to Azula. Ty Lee is also a fun character. She's a crazy circus freak who stuns people simply by punching them. Then there is Azula, the insane princess who is one of the best villains ever in television and cinema history. These three girls, who are only teenagers, have to be the perfect trio of villains in any text I have ever seen.

Overall, this is one fantastic show. I can't think of anything to say that is negative about it. It's a nice family show but it so well developed it is hard to not like. Avatar: The Last Airbender isn't just a show, it's a masterpiece. The only disappointment is that the movie sucked. The one thing the film failed to establish was the relationships between the characters. The film was just simply so bland and boring. Meanwhile, the show takes as long as it takes to develop properly and become what we see when we watch it.
In Ba Sing Se, Jet is captured by the Dai Li and is brain-washed to betray the Avatar. Jet overcomes the mind-control after being ordered to attack Aang and his friends and is killed by Long Feng in the "Lake Laogai" episode. Jet actually dies off-screen; his fate has been confirmed by the show's creators. Currently there is one Live Action Film The Last Airbender (2010), written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan . The film was produced at Paramount. The movie was titled "The Last Airbender" to avoid confusion with James Cameron's unrelated film "Avatar." The movie was released in theaters on July 2, 2010. Shooting took place on stages in Philadelphia, as well as locations including Greenland. Series creators Michael DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko served as executive producers. As to casting, the roles of Aang went to karate-trained Texan Noah Ringer; Sokka to Jackson Rathbone; Katara to Nicola Peltz and Dev Patel as Zuko.

Originally, the plan was for three live-action films. The showbiz magazine Variety announced on January 8th, 2007 that filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan had signed a 3-picture deal with Paramount's MTV Films and Nick Movies to write, direct and produce the live-action film adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender."

Despite a lack of popularity with USA cinema-goers, The Last Airbender film continued to be tremendously financially successful around the world and was therefore quite popular. IMDB reports that as of the 23rd of September 2010, the worldwide gross figures for the film was $319,731,881. From a financial standpoint, this figure suggests that all of the costs of making the film were recouped plus an additional 100% profit. The gross in USA cinemas up until the 19th of September 2010 (IMDB) was $131,564,731, meaning that more than 50% of the gross was from outside USA. In sum, the first film was had average success in USA and big success around the world.

In April 2013, rumours were building quickly that M. Night Shyamalan is preparing for the the sequel: The Last Airbender: Book 2 Earth. As of September 2017 there are no information regarding any sequel. No. 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the spin-off series titled The Legend of Korra reveals that there is at least one new airbender, Tenzin, the son of Aang and Katara. Tenzin is the airbending teacher to Korra, the new Avatar. His 3 children, Aang's grandchildren, are also Airbenders. No, but there will be a follow-up comic-book series and a sequel set decades after the original show. The creators confirmed that at San Diego Comic Con in July, 2007. Other stories will be told in the Avatar world and there is the live-action movie, but the animated series ends with Book 3: Fire. The further adventures of Aang and his friends will be continued in an ongoing comic-book series to be published by Dark Horse Comics.

Nickelodeon has announced that there will be a new series titled [link]tt1695360[/link]. 'The Legend of Korra' takes place 70 years after the events of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. Korra is tutored by Aang's son, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending; so, in a sense, 'The Legend of Korra' will be 'Book 4: Air', because the Avatar is learning airbending. The incomplete line of Avatar toys, produced by Mattel, can be found online and in most major toy stores. Yes all three seasons are availible on DVD, however no blu ray set has been anounced yet Yes. The follow-up series called [link]tt1695360[/link] and takes place 70 years after the events of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'. Follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang -- a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra." The series ran from 2010 t0 2014 in Nickelodean and contains 52 episodes. Quoting from The Wall Street Journal:Korra's quest eventually leads her to Republic City--the epicenter of the world of Avatar. A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang's son, Tenzin, is the ways of airbending.
