Honestly, I like artwork in this game and soundtrack. It is very good. But, story and that annoying narrator is dull. I just want to like this game becaue it is non romance VN, but I can't.. I hated the bickering narrators who make the story hard to follow.. I hate to be the odd man out. But this is the first legitimately negative review for this title.) This free short story is one-part of a two-part plan and is about 30-40 minutes long from my experience (slow reader). Both parts 1 & 2 are intended to be presented in 2 formats each, Visual Novel (or VN) and Animation. Logically, this review is for the VN version of Runeous Part 1. Personally, it took me about an hour to see all paths. To be frank and with all due respect to the team who developed this particular title, I'm not really impressed. Although the story started in a decent manner, the bickering of the two narrators left an awful taste in my mouth. (Why does there need to be more than one narrator? If they don't cooperate, it just falls apart.) However, I may just be spoiled by other VN projects. I personally believe this one missed its mark. PROS: + Great scenery backgrounds + Skip works when you're not in-window + Character art is.decent CONS: - Story feels generic - Narrators constantly bickering - Occassional grammatical errors - Some character portraits are not properly alligned - Lene's portrait when skipping the story had the wrong image (terrified Lene) - No BACK button - Music loops will get irritating - "Skip" is too slow - Character art may not be bad, but still bothers me I respect this small team for developing this title (along with their ambitions to complete the story), however, it's been a negative experience on my part. I can't say whether part 2 would be good or not, but aside from achievements and a free and easy 100%, I cannot in good faith recommend this title. 3/10 A visual novel that just didn't hit its mark.. Just finished Runeous: Part One. It's cetainly left me wanting more. I enjoyed it - the artwork is fairly unique and the music is perfect, plus it's free! Took me about 20 - 25 mins to get through. Looking forward to Part Two.. I believe this may have been my first actual visual novel game. Nice story, nice music. The only weird thing was the story took place in the year 600 or something and there were trains & electricity. Part of it felt a little Final Fantasy-ish. Like if Final Fantasy 6 was in visual novel form. It took me roughly 45 minutes to 100% this game.. Way to "linear" even for a "normal" visual novel to be considered worth the time. So its all up to if the story is worth the time or not. And I have to say; I am not invested in the characthers at the end of this part one.. This game has its unique pair of Narrators to guide the players through the introduction of the plot and in most cut-scenes. The voice acting was also good, and I found it humorous how they'll pester each other from time to time. x3 Its music and art were also well done and finely detailed in terms of the environment as we progress in scenes. The characters in Runeous: Part One are anything but bland, albeit somewhat generic to that of a cast from many other VNs. It can be difficult to build distinct characters, let alone a memorable story, but for a free game I'd say this was well done. It's worth playing if you like light-hearted VNs.. Interesting storyline.. great story can't wait for part 2 sound overlaps sometimes but i really did enjoy it cant wait you guys did a great job smooth transition from scene to scene
