When a serial killer indicates that his next target is the Miss United States beauty pageant, the F.B.I. decides that they must get an undercover Agent as a participant in the contest. A search uncovers no suitable candidate other than a bumbling female Agent. Reluctantly, her Captain agrees to let her join the team working the case. The team is led by a womanizing Agent who has an apparent reluctant attraction to Bullock's character. She enters as Miss New Jersey, replacing a contestant who was discovered to have acted in a porn movie. The pageant managers are immediately aghast about the Agent appearing in the pageant, but arrange a top handler to come give her a quick make-over, with the expected outstanding results. Unfortunately, she still is bumbling. When the killer is suddenly caught, everything seems to be over, except the female Agent tries to convince her boss that something is still not right. She has discovered that the pageant managers are being dismissed after twenty-one years for younger people, and Bergen's character may not be as solid as she seems on the surface.

"Miss Congeniality" has its moments of lameness. The beauty pageant contestants are reduced to one-dimensional stereotypes, which is not offensive but pretty dull. And most of the supporting cast is one-dimensional, though some are amusing. I liked Michael Caine as the pageant consultant. Bill Shatner looks like a total cartoon, but considering the roles he's taken after quitting "Star Trek"--this is a high point. And of course, Sandra Bullock shines as usual. She was perfectly suited in her role as a tomboy, and I like how her character didn't fade out, even after the arduous makeover. She definitely shows off her knack for physical comedy more than she has in her past comedies.

It's hard to find a perfect comedy nowadays, so naturally this movie misses the mark here and there--the running joke of Bullock tripping on high heels wasn't funny at first, and it wasn't necessary to repeat it again and again. But when the movie hits the mark--it does it successfully! I have to admit, I received lots of big laughs! And overall, this is just a fun movie--emphasize the word "fun." There are many implausible elements that those who carry a notepad to the cinema will so graciously scribble down, but if you're not part of the crowd I suspect you'll have a ball.

My score: 7 (out of 10) This film is one of those hard to find films that will cheer you up even when you think no one else can. it is like a best friend! This film is about an FBI agent going undercover to a beauty pageant or a "scholarship program"! But she is a complete tomboy, she has never worn make up before and has never worn a dress before. This makes the film even funnier because Sandra Bullock plays the character so well that it really looks awkward for the character she is playing - Gracie hart. It makes you constantly laugh all the way through with its witty comments and overall excellent acting By Sandra Bullock sometimes i wonder where she gets her facial expressions from she is brilliant! There is a serious side to it because of the reason she has gone to the beauty pageant someone is planning to do something bad there - we find out later that they are planning to blow up the beauty pageant winner and her surroundings. There is also a love theme going along which you don't think will work out but we want it to! Overall it is a brilliant, superb, hilarious, wonderful (any other words you can think of that mean brillianto!!!) i love this film and will remain my favourite film forever!

Tomboyish FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) is forced to go undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant to prevent a terrorist known only as "The Citizen" from bombing the event. Miss Congeniality is based on a screenplay written by Marc Lawrence, Katie Ford, and Caryn Lucas. It was followed by Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous (2005) (2005). "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago (1965) (1965). The lyrics begin "Somewhere my love there will songs to sing..." When Gracie hears that Frank (Steve Monroe) has taken the crown to get polished, it dawns on her that he is planting the bomb in it. As Stan (William Shatner) begins to read off the names of the runners-up, Gracie tries to alert Eric (Benjamin Bratt) but she can't be understood amidst the clamor and excitement on stage. Fourth runnerup California, third runnerup Nebraska, second runnerup Texas. Gracie is named first runnerup, leaving the crown to Rhode Island. When the crown is placed on Cheryl's (Heather Burns) head, Gracie attempts to rip it off, making everyone think that she is a sore loser trying to steal the crown. In the ruckus that follows, Eric knocks out Frank who drops the detonator onstage, Kathy (Candice Bergen) picks it up and detonates the bomb just as Gracie gets the crown away from Cheryl and tosses it in the air, blowing up the Statue of Liberty instead. Kathy and Frank are arrested, and Eric and Gracie agree to go out on a date when they get back to New York and Gracie "gets all ugly again." Just as Eric and Gracie are about to leave in a taxi, Victor Melling (Michael Caine) comes running out of the hotel, yelling about an incendiary device being spotted in the farewell breakfast room. Gracie runs back inside, only to find that she has been honored by being voted Miss Congeniality.
