I wanted to give this game a second chance, but once again was disapointed. My computer overheats everytime I launch the game even on Low setting, which looks like S,,,,,t My Rig: Intel Core I5-3570 CPU 3.4GHz 16 Gb Memory GTX 660. Worst game I've evr played. I played very little this game and even if I have it since the first not really successfully release, since I have hundreds of other titles to try, I did not give this game a chance until now. As you can imagine having so many games my patience is also limited, so after 20 minutes of trying all graphic settings and not being able to do anything my first thought was to delete it and move to something else. I took my time to write this for everyone like me who felt frustrated from the unresponsive unappealing first few minutes in the game but was still curious about this game. First experience (roughly less than 20 minutes): load the game in a decent specced computer, go through a not really informative character creation screen, interesting presentation of the game and lore, graphic horrendous, 2/4 seconds of delay from selecting an action and its realization, etc. After changing all possible graphic settings noticed no improvement and I closed the game frustrated. Second experience (roughly an hour plus another hour of browsing in Internet): I noticed many people enjoyed the game so I thought they must have managed to play it. Some suggested to read the manual, and although if it presents really well the game setting and lore, it helps very little in how to configure the game or in explaining for example the character creation (if you are familiar with RPGs the instructions dont tell much more than you already know but still leaves doubts regarding some game-specific mechanics). I then decided to change the graphic settings before loading the game. Closed the game and restarted to ensure the settings were applied and then I could load the game and start using it properly. Most commands can be configured but using the mouse to walk can be frustrating as the character will crash on any object on his path without trying to move around it. WASD controls work better especially after I discovered I can move the camera using the right button of the mouse. Conversations are ok and my inventory stuffed up pretty soon. There are several bugs, like the map functionality first time was loaded completely black leaving me wondering, but reopening it fixes the problem and is actually pretty clear and informative. In summary after an initial frustration I found that the game is not bug-free but playable and the settings are actually really interesting. The developers, which is trying to build a trilogy, from the little I followed them (even through the second kickstarter I did not back) seem honest and caring about their game (they could have left and abandoned the project after the heavy critics of the first game, instead they republished a new version). Its not an early access game (although it receives some updates and some content from the second game) and as such it should (and I feel it is) playable. If you like the genre I would recommend to consider it on sale but if you dont have the patience to configure the game and lose a significant amount of time just to start it avoid it. I will keep updating this review as I go through the game and I may even change my opinion, but so far I feel the lack of this kind of games and Im willing to give this one a chance.. There really, really, really needs to be a 50/50 receommendation option. Not just yes or no. Why, well, because I'd like to recommend the game based on the open world aspect, as well as all the little details that went into making this game. From things like spell crafting all the way to the smaller details like picking locks. BUT. There are quite a few points about this game that make me cringe whenever I try to play. And I have played both the original, and have started to play the "reborn" version (and I say that lightly, because like many others have said, not much has changed.) My biggest gripe, and some would see this as something not worth griping about, is movement, or travelling, etc. It takes a dog's age to get anywhere! There is no "fast travelling". Then add that to the already slow and clunky moving character, and well. Hope you're up for long journeys from A to B. Which leads me to my next gripe. There is absolutely no quest markers, at all. What kind of adventurer would go out on a quest and not mark their map in some way so that they know where they should go, where they should look, and who to return to once the objective is complete? You can easily spend several hours just trying to figure out who it was that gave you what quests, and where the heck you're supposed to even go to begin, let alone finish. oh, and once you do figure it out, it takes FOREVER to get there and back again. Don't get me wrong. The game has got a lot going for it. But some times it's the little things that can really make or break. I, for one, will continue to bust through this, it might just take me a year or two to do it.. i was surprised to see a re-release of this, but its still as bad as before. really clunky animations, poorly designed controls, bad performance and just boring gameplay. dont bother buying this.. Level Editor will not start due to some missing Scintilla or something dll. Only reason I bought this game is because it has a level editor. When I asked in the discussions before buying about the level editor the devs pretty much just blew me off. They said, yeah it has one but wouldn't say anything else. So I'm not going to bother asking them for help getting the POS to work. Way it is.. It turns out an awful control scheme is all it takes to make me change the game I am playing. Just walking around is enough to immediately regret the money spent on this.. Before I started playing this re-release (I can't stand revamps, HD remasters and similar gimmicks), I looked at the reviews. At a time I checked the reviews, the most were the negative ones, and currently they still are. The most of the reviews say that nothing is changed in the game. Also those "0.1 hours" reviews seem like, oh let's just review the game, so those idiot developers could get as much as negative reviews because I hate them. I played around 8 hours in the game, and here are my impressions. First, let's start with the NEGATIVE ones: - the visuals are the same - the combat is still rather clunky and there is a lot of "misses", which is pretty tiresome - some locations in the game look beautiful, but others look. not so much - if you don't have the patience, you will have difficult time with some quests because there is no tutorial to explain how some things work in the game - bugs Now, let's shift to the POSITIVE aspects of the game: - the story is pretty good, and for some strange reason, it grows on you. I want to do more and explore more - much better map - the world is HUGE, and there is a lot to see and to find - crapload of loot - much better inventory system to manage that loot - "crafting" spells can be fun - there is a certain charm in the stuff that is not explained, because you have to figure them out by yourself. If you have the patience, the whole experience can be pretty rewarding - the developer still updates the game, which is a good sign - you get the game for free if you already have the original Finally, to say that the game is "crap" is just pure bashing. The game isn't all that great, but it isn't that bad either like others want to assure potential buyers. It sits somewhere in the middle, between "I like it" or "I hate it". I for one like it, and I would recommend it. If you have the patience.. Dreamatrix loves their game more than we do. If I worked for them and read the negative reviews the first release had, I'd bury my head in the sand and change my name. Not these guys, they keep trying, and tryng, and trying to make it better. The game is kinda buggy and kinda u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665, but has a quant enjoyable charm to it. So I gotta thumb up it. Cheers to the Developers! one day they'll make the greatest RPG someday, this isn't the game but it's worth a look.
