The Coast Guard makes a daring rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after a pair of oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952.
On a stormy night in the winter of 1952, off the coast of Massachusetts in Cape Cod, a violent tempest splits in half two oil tankers: the SS Fort Mercer and the SS Pendleton where its 32-member crew struggle to keep afloat the fragmented hull in the middle of the raging sea. With most of the area's available Coast Guard forces deployed to save the crew of the sinking Mercer, it seems that Pendleton's only hope lies with Coast Guard officer Bernie Webber's skeleton crew and a small lifeboat amidst towering waves and the omnipotent forces of nature. In this suicide mission against all odds, no one knows if the remaining survivors are still alive; nevertheless, it takes heroism and great courage to throw yourself into the mouth of hell to save a soul in peril.
Hey, I didn't realise this was a Disney movie until I read other reviews. That is a statement in itself. Thoroughly enjoyed this actioner, and I have no problem with factual errors as I tend to watch movies for entertainment. If I want to be educated I pick up a book ... or Kindle. OK some of the dialogue was a bit stilted, but it was great to watch a manly film for once. Fine effects and the sound was superb on my soundbar.
Well, its a good film with a very intelligent chosen cast and crew with some good periodic effects and a good essence of history which was lost in bundle of heavy history books. I must say watch it with patience in your heart and trust me Disney films always fulfills one promise and that is entertainment.

Chris Pine is a fine actor along with other actors he re creates the magic of history. Cinematography, specially the long shots are really amazing. The body language of all the characters is so good that you feel like they are from the fifties.

It's a simple film and you all movie watchers already know the story but i can assure you with one thing that it's good and it is handled with proper care.

Finally, witness it with something good to eat and have good two hours. An adventure drama with sea legs, a story of heroism steeped in period detail, played with sympathy and stoicism by people who respect such old fashioned virtues.
