The United Nations assembles the ultimate weapon to defeat Godzilla, while scientists discover a fresh pteranodon egg on a remote Japanese island.
In response to Japan's request for a countermeasure against Godzilla, UN engineers construct Mechagodzilla, a giant robotic version of Godzilla. Nonetheless, Godzilla proves himself a force to be reckoned with against this monstrosity and battle ensues.
The year was 1993. There was JURASSIC PARK, CARNOSAUR, SUPER MARIO BROTHERS THE MOVIE, PREHYSTERIA, and TAMMY AND THE T-REX. This was a year when dinosaurs ruled the screen. Godzilla came back in a sequel to 1992's previous film GODZILLA VS MOTHRA: THE BATTLE FOR EARTH. There is a slight shade of GORGO, and a pinch of JURASSIC PARK. Rodan made a come back. The scene where G fights Rodan will remind fans of GHIDRAH: THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER. Yet Akira Ifukube, brings back some musical classic dressed up for the Heisi series, like DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, GHIDRAH: THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER, the 1954 GODZILLA, and GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA. The part at the end where the woman is saying goodbye to Baby Godzilla, sounds a bit like the love music from KING KONG ESCAPES), plus he palye up some original music. Mechagodzilla looks bulky, than 70's robotish look. Rodan has a G-like power. A glowing crest, followed by laser spitting. Baby G looks more like his daddy, but cute, sweet, and small (better than that goofy looking Minya). Mecha King Ghidorah (from 1991's GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH), got referenced in the prologue.As for Godzilla, he looks more lifelike, and the some scenes of the movie reminded of GODZILLA 1985. And look here, kaijus that talk telepathically, plus some Japanese woman 5 years before Eliza Thornberry, that can telepathically talk to kaijus. Plus kaijus that can heal other kaiju, and can join forces to make a super kaiju (OK). Fire Rodan will help you answer the question:"What if Toho remade RODAN?" When Baby G was running away and hiding, was that stop-motion, or the editor put it in high speed to give the illusion of running? When I saw the opening credits to that movie, I saw the Tri-Star animated logo, the english text, and the main title but in Japanese, but the English title in the bottom (I saw the title translated into spanish on Telemundo. I saw this movie dubbed in Spanish). Followed byt the names of the cast and crew in English. End credits were brief, no "The End" card like in the Showa series. The special effects are traditional. Suitimation, cell animation (like the ones used in cartoons), pyrotechnics, and to make it sophisticated, animatronics. This is the first time on IMDB.com I commented on a Heisei film. The robot monster made a comeback in 2002 with GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA. Now due out in 2003 in Japan. he is back along with Mothra, and Kameba (from 1970's YOG THE SPACE MONSTER) in GODZILLA X MOTHRA X MECHAGODZILLA: TOKYO S.O.S. Not really a sequel to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. This is a sequel to the films in this series. Mecha-Ghidorah is raised from the sea by a newly appointed G-Force, a Japanese government agency designed to deal with Godzilla. They start to build Mechagodzilla, just as a mutant Pteranodon is discovered and her egg taken. Just so happens this is actually a baby Godzilla egg. I love the baby Godzilla in this film. Sure it looks strange, but it should. With its wide beady eyes and gormless smile. Rodan's flying scenes, and the battles, are yet a greater testament against CGI. These films do not seek perfection and they inspire the imagination. Films are truly trying to replace the imagination these days, rather than aid it. Watch a Godzilla movie to start your detox.

Yes, in fact there are several. keep in note these scenes can not be seen on the internet anywhere (as far as I have searched) or on the Sony Tristar DVD release of the film.
