A man (JCVD) drives out in the desert where some men steal his motorcycle and leave him for dead. He survives and no longer thinks of suicide as he now has a purpose in life: revenge and getting his bike back.
Eddie Lomax (Van Damme) is a vetern soldier sick of life, wandering the desert looking for a reason to die. An incident with a few thugs from the nearby town who steal Eddies motorbike and beat him almost to death, starts in Eddie a flame for revenge. Helped by Mr. Early, and some other good fellows, Eddie is out for vengeance.
Now, 5.1 is the current rating. I say that's a great rating for a JCVD movie, but here people contributed to that score got it completely wrong.

Worst ever performance by a famous lead actor. I was not expecting a western classic or a decent bad action movie. I knew exactly what was coming. But JCVD's acting right from the beginning in this one as I said worst ever performance by a famous lead actor.

Gabrielle Fitzpatrick was stunningly beautiful and Pat Morita had few funny moments. There was a sex scene, a couple of nude girls, and a shot of JVCD's ass. Vincent Schiavelli as an Indian guy. Of course some absolutely horrible actions scenes.

The least I expect from a decent bad action movie is tolerable acting. JVCD and most of his co-stars failed completely on that aspect. STAR RATING:*****Unmissable.****Very Good.***Okay.**You Could Go Out For A Meal Instead.*Avoid At All Costs.

Granted the Belgian one's recent spate of work has been the deplorable 'Knock Off'and,although I hav'nt seen it(don't want to)rather repellent 'Universal Soldier:The Return',and granted the overall quality of the movie,Inferno is a Van Damme movie I rather enjoyed.The opening scene especially,of Van Damme in the desert with the nutty Mexican bloke off 'Con Air' and 'Point Blank' was very well written and strangely effecting.You also got to feel for the resident's of the town,including the 2 pretty waitresses,the old guy,and the standard wise old Japanese guy.And there was of course,some great kickboxing action,at the end especially.

Also,towards the end especially,the movie loses it's sense of pace a bit,and goes a bit awry.And the gunfights wer'nt great.But overall,these were minor quibbles in a very entertaining action vehicle.****
