I have just completed the main story of the game after 9.8 hours. I played it yesterday and today intensively and had a wonderfully pleasant experience with it. I like the colours, the fact that there is no time pressure, the idea is to just gather resources and use them in production and fulfill various objectives. It is a simple and pleasant economic game which I really enjoyed. I encountered no bugs in the game except for one which a simple ctrl-alt-delete resolved without any save games being lost so the game is 100% playable. If you want to get a relaxing game in which you build and gather resources without any time constraint, I reccomend this game 100%. Thank you, developers :).. Hello All,
First for the price you get a much more involved game than you would think. So far I haven't seen any bugs that I can tell, and its got good game play.
This game has one major drawback that I didn't see others mention, the constant clicking. You have to micro manage everything, constantly. Now most of us are used to that in some fashion in these type of games, but this is where the short cuts where taken, no matter what about every 20 seconds you have to click on everything that produces food, water, or cash, as well as all the resources that respawn for your workers to go harvest\/collect. This gets old fast. clicklety click click click. Thats all you do in this game. keep clicking on the same tree, bush, same everything every 15 to 20 seconds as it respawns.
Even using the resources you gather, every few seconds click on the kitchen, to make more stuff, no auto queing. After 10 hours I was clicked out. Just way to much clicking. That said, if you can suffer through that, the rest of it is as others said a fun little game.
if the workers would be auto gather on where you send them once, and the wells, tents, and grills would auto collect after the first upgrade, that would make the game much more tolerable.
Edit the next day ... ok so once you get to level 19 ... you get a reprieve from most of the clicking. They finally give you a perk where you only have to click on one tent, or one water well, or one brazier, and you collect everything from them all. Also by that time, you aren't so desparate for collecting the respawning wood stone and food as much so the game play is much more enjoyable.
I finished the game today ... nice game, well wortth the price, but i don't see any real replay ability. I also got the feeling like I had played this game before or one very very similiar.
I would highly suggest they patch this and put that once click resource perk so you get it before you leave the first island, that would really make the game play much more enjoyable.
Also for you planners who like to max resources before you jump to the next new place ... um as far as food, water and cash go ... don't bother , you basically start over each time. When you get to the third place .... thats when its worth really going for it, and purchasing most of the big stuff.
Enjoy, looking forward to a second one.. This is a relaxing, casual game that plays like some Facebook games. Anyway, you gather materials and cash, build things... and begin a journey to try and find a missing hero.
Do get it on discount, though.. Buka makes some very fun games and this is no exception. Nice graphics, good story, fun puzzles, and loads of fun for children and adults alike. That is right Buka, just keep spoiling me. Two thumbs up.. I like ultra-casual games. I like time management & match 3 games, the two genres into which this game most solidly fits. I also like city-builders. So I should be the exact target audience for this game, but I didn't enjoy playing it.
The game tells you to complete arbitrary tasks, something like quests, and just as in (bad) RPGs, it doesn't matter if you've JUST done the arbitrary task, you still have to do it again. The match 3 game is only really necessary when the game tells you to play it, and it's timed and impossible to strategize. There's some strategy involved in setting up your camp, and doing your best to fine-tune it.
But here's the game's biggest flaw, in my opinion. After fine-tuning your camp, you have to move to a new area and complete a very tedious process in order to bring some of your progress with you. This happens several times over the course of the game.
Additionally, the fishing minigame needs to be shot out of a cannon into the sun. Overall, this is a very annoying game.. A small and short strategy\/sim type game that should have been a fun and quick game but ended up being overall annoying with how the game progressed.
You start off on a small island after a plane crash and start with a small group of workers to collect resources, to upgrades your structures, complete missions and build new structures that unlock as you level up. This isn't a negative up until you realize there are 4 islands and that every time you move to a new island you don't get to take anything with you and start the whole process over again. So as you progress through the story you do the same steps over again three times from the starting island, it stopped being fun after the second island.
Another problem was resource gathering. Some resources that could be gathered would be collected automatically after the plant\/tree\/stone was harvested, however some of the resources that generate from your buildings had to be collected by clicking on the building. So this just led into an infinite loop of sending workers out to gather the various resources, then clicking your buildings than back to the workers again and repeat x 100. Would have been nice to auto set workers to collect some of the basic resources so you could do some of the minigames or other things, instead of repetitively telling them to collect one thing over and over.
Also most of the islands seem to be gated by a single resource or two, so you have to work around that resource that stops you from progressing as quickly as you could. I get why it's done in these types of games, but its silly that in the last 15 minutes of the game I acquired as much money as the entirety of the rest of my play time.
I think the overall game could have been a bit more enjoyable with some quality of life improvements, however what is here isn't something I can recommend. If you like these types of games I'd recommend something like The Promised Land (from the same developer\/publisher) instead, has more depth to it and its more than just mindlessly clicking.. Buka makes some very fun games and this is no exception. Nice graphics, good story, fun puzzles, and loads of fun for children and adults alike. That is right Buka, just keep spoiling me. If you want to get a relaxing game in which you build and gather resources without any time constraint, I reccomend this game 100%. Thank you, developers :).. I love this game... bugs and all! At least the bugs didn't stop me from finishing the game. It is a building \/ strategy game with some match 3 (a LOT if you want to make any money) and a large variety of other puzzles (some unique) thrown into the mix.
Some hints to save yourself some frustration if you decide to try it is:
Very limited resources (water, food, money) are transferred with you so BEFORE going to the next island:
1. stock up on some gold and\/or iron and preferably have it already converted to ingots (one of the first things to transfer to new location)
2. buy as much stuff as you can (inventory is the only thing you can transfer as soon as you have the money to do it)
3. don't try to do any quests (on the left) AFTER receiving the quest to go to the next island... especially the CONTAINER quest (they could get locked and you will be unable to complete them)
4. I don't know if it makes a difference but all the fish at the bottom of the inventory I either used or sold before moving on because it takes a little time to transfer items to the new location
5. stock up on mushrooms and berries BEFORE going to the 4th island because there are NONE there<\/span><\/span>
The bug that I encountered was I received a CONTAINER quest AFTER getting the quest to go to a new island and was never able to complete it. Not sure but I think what I did wrong was to open the CONTAINER request in the current island and click SHOW (container DID NOT SHOW) instead of going to the next island first. So my suggestion is to go to the next island and THEN check out any new requests. I had 3 unfinished quests at the end but was still able to complete the game.
All in all a fun and very addictive game! If you decide to give it a whirl, I hope you have as much fun as I did!. This is the kind of game where you might as well read a book while you play. Not the fastest moving thing and the 'plot' is a mess. Very repetitive. At this point I'm continuing more out of stubborn will to finish the dang thing than any real desire to play.
