The 1980s saw a decline in general merchandise traffic on British Rail. This meant numerous open and closed wagons became surplus to requirements. In 1992, around 400 VDA vans were scheduled for conversion into open ballast wagons, these being delivered to Network Southeast and the West Coast Mainline. After privatisation, the wagons continued in service with new owners English Welsh & Scottish railway, who repainted many of them in the familiar EWS livery.

The ZCA Sea Urchins Wagon Pack includes 40 different versions, with two different under frame types in clean and weathered schemes and a choice of loads including grey ballast, pink ballast, pea gravel, sand and empty (with load remnants).

I fully recomment this wagon pack to anyone who fancies an extra few wagons in there add-on collection. It come's with high quality liveries and also has the wagon sound effects which I love and all in a small price of \u00a32.99 it's well worth it. For myself I use these nearly everyday.. I've bought Fastline Simulation products for quite a while now. They're a company that specialises in freight and departmental rolling stock, and are always a byword for quality. It's wonderful to see them on Steam.

On to the actual product, these are the ZCA Sea Urchin ballast wagons in many EWS-era liveries - both pristine and weathered. The sounds are good, the texture work is high quality and accurate to the real thing, and the variety in loads are most welcome.

That is comes with rear lights is great, as is the free TSR (Temporary Speed Restriction) signage. For \u00a32.99, I'd say go for it, especially if you're a scenario writer wishing to add more wagon variety in early 2000s scenarios.. Well this was an unexpected little gem for me as I've never really bought anything from Fastline Simulation.
