Professor Charles Francis Xavier, who has the mutant ability to read minds, searches for new mutants to train them how to use their powers for good and to prevent the mutants from harming themselves and others at his School for Gifted Youngsters. His opposition, Magneto "Master of Magnetism", is doing the same thing, but for evil purposes. He has made Mystique who is a shape-shifter, a principle of his high school to gather evil mutants to prepare them for war against non-mutants. The most interesting plot of the story is that all the heroes and villains attend the same high school. The classic battle of good vs. evil has begun again.
A group of people discover that they have been born with superpowers and must decide whether to use them for good or evil. When more people discover they have superhuman powers, the ranks of good and evil swell and the battle between both sides rages.
The first time I saw this show, I thought it was ok. I kept seeing all the other episodes and its the same plot, 2 new people join, one for the x-men and one for the brotherhood of mutants, in EVERY episode. None of the charactors are developed at all. And they make Nightcrawler very irritating. Go see the movie or the cartoon on fox. Also they always play reruns and there is only 6 episodes. This is a boring, kiddie version of the X-Men.
X-Men Evolution is the pinnacle in comic to small screeen cartoon adaptation.

While a lot of people expect the cartoon to be exactly the SAME as the comic, that doesn't always work in the cartoon format. Take the original X-Men cartoon that debuted in 1992, it tried to pack so much action into all of its episodes, the epiosdes ended up being of lesser quality.

But now comes X-men Evolution. Currently having entered its 4th season and the show is riding a huge high. Character development, one of THEE most important things in a television show is great on Evolution. Now they have ad libbed certain scenes and added unimportant characters, but depictions of the core characters is great.

Take Iceman, and how he has evolved throughout the show.

Bobby Drake started off as one of the "other" students, not getting any air time. But now his character has evolved to the point where he is a bigger part of the show.

Story arcs go over several episodes and they are done great. This show has quickly become one of my favourite cartoons, and with interesting arcs coming up in the 4th season I am more hooked then ever.
