About This Game

Dinocide is a classic NES inspired old-school single-player platformer in a prehistoric fantasy world. Dinocide tries to capture the drive and fun of that era and recreate it in a modern way!

Description

The protagonist has to save his love interest who was kidnapped by an evil and mysterious Dinosaur God. You are accompanied by your own tame Dinosaurs, who act as a mounts, brother in arms and a true friends. With their help, you can jump higher, run faster, swim, fly and do a lot more things that an ordinary primitive man would never be able to do by himself. To reach your goal, you will travel together through the lands inhabited by ancient creatures and unknown dangers.

I ploughed through this in one sitting, in just over an hour.
My recommendation of this game comes with the side-note that I got this in some bundle somewhere for far below its Steam price.

It's a decent game, mildly fun and not awful. It's hardly something amazing, but it's playable.
No tutorial, though it has as much story as it requires. It can be unforgiving at times, but it's, as above, decent.

Maybe pick it up on sale.. Got killed 3 times by a fish that thinks its a submarine.

PS... Snakes! Snakes everywhere! They will get you with their ninja stealth.. I got a free code for this game, so I figured I might as well try it out, right? After a quick opening cutscene establishing the most cliched of plotlines, I'm off to save my cave-girlfriend. I quickly noticed that I could achieve optimal results by just pressing right and occasionally responding to what's on the screen. For an ostensibly NES-inspired game, the difficulty seems to have been missed. When the difficulty finally did kick up, it was for frustrating and uncontrollable reasons, like awkward jumping controls, enemies that move too fast for a reaction (forcing trial and error gameplay), and unresponsive attacks. The sound was good, and the visuals were kind of nice, but that's it. Not recommended.. Do not waste your money on this.

Firstly, it's simple controls wouldn't work with my son's 8bitdo SFC30 gamepad, which was a bit annoying given how simple the controls are.

Secondly the game is so bad it isn't worth any money whatsoever. The "physics" are like those programmed by a first time programmer and are quite horrible (e.g. 1 speed up\/down when jumping, no acceleration curve). The main game mechanic of starving very quickly is just ridiculous - this was a game I only bought for my kid to play but it was too hard to play it. Even I had trouble with the first level, let alone the 2nd.

So with those 2 factors in mind I requested a refund.. I bought this game for half price and I honestly don't feel it was worth it.
* (A personal gripe) The game itself has graphics that dont really match any platform or era.
* Actual gameplay is lackluster and after you die two or three times your almost completely done with it.
* The difficulty is only in the finding of food, not in the actual game.
Overall the game feels kind of lazy and without attention to detail. Not a single point of playing it did I actually feel like it was fun.... The idea of a platformer with a hunger mechanic seems really poorly concieved.. Dinocide is a great game, I would play agina. 10\/10. but i have 17 complaints.

Expensive for just 3 hours of gameplay!. Good game, overpriced but still a good game.
