About This Game

A young witch's sorrow has been corrupted by a malicious demon who uses her tears to open a gateway to hell. Now, the kingdom is threatened as evil floods the countryside. Enter the world of the Cursed Castilla, embroiled in the mysteries of European folklore. You take on the role of Don Ramiro, a knight appointed by King Alphonse VI, and charged with the perilous mission to: travel the cursed lands of Tolomera, banish the creatures that plague them and close the gateway.

Set in the Spanish kingdom of Castilla during the Middle Ages, you will be invited to take part in a love letter to Spanish folklore and the best of retro platformers. Here Don Ramiro will face not only legends from the chivalrious romances of Amadis de Gaula but also powerful European mythos brought to life. But even if you survive these challenges, you may end up losing the souls of your companions and even your own if you are not careful!

But all is not lost! Fate has given you a range of weapons to bring the battle to the heart of the demon. There are secrets to be found and power-ups to be had!

Every good Ouya game ends up on Steam.. A polished and well-designed homage to Ghouls N Ghosts. I loved it.. This game seeks out to do exactly what it looks like it's trying to do.
It's not even being subtle.

Price is a bit high, but that can be said about any arcade-style games with a focus on 1CCing it.. I grew up playing Ghouls'n Ghosts. Now I'm getting old playing Cursed Castilla.
The more I play this the more gray my hair turns, but it's worth it...
For the Glory of the Arcade Times!. Very good arcade platformer. Would reccomend.. A nice and short old school sidescrolling action game, with a great learning curve appealing to varyingly skilled players: it might seem hard at first but thanks to checkpoints at every screen you'll be soon speedrunning it.

+ A lot of graphical settings and 21:9 support

- Non replayable levels make content skippable
- A lot of powerups feel like power-downs :/
- 4:3 layout but with black bars fillers

4/5. This game tried to buy my soul for an extra life.... No, unless you're really struggling for some SNES nostalgia...there are better 8 bit hack and jump adventures out there. Get a new weapon? Yay, can't switch back? The axes are terrible. Just one of many small things I didn't enjoy in my admittedly very short playtime. Soundtrack is nice though...

Edit: Got this as part of Humble Bundle. Not my kind of game, don't be put off, if a 20 year old retro game is exactly what you're looking for. There are no modern features here.
