What is it?
Blitz Breaker is a simple, accessible twitch platformer with one small change: Your character can't run.
Play as an adorable little robot named Blitz, where your goal is to escape the factory you were built in. The problem is that it seems like everything is trying to break you! That is, with the exception of Chip: A friendly computer helper who is totally your friend!
Gameplay
The gameplay is as simple as it is satisfying. Blitz can only jump, and perform an air dash in one of 4 directions. Upon colliding with an object that doesn't break you, you are free to dash again. Use this to navigate a variety of challenges and hazards, including spikes, cannons, missiles, lasers, mines and even giant mechanical monsters.
Featuring challenging but fair difficulty, the skill lies in your timing, and ability to react. Perfecting these skills grants you stars, which are used to unlock additional heads to dress Blitz up in. Your ability to search and explore can lead you to secrets, and keys to portals harboring even greater challenges.
Features
- Simple + multiple control schemes. You can play with keyboard or gamepad (optimized for 360 gamepad), and the entire game can be played one handed. (Currently working on support for Steam Controller)

- Over 20 heads to discover and collect (some are more secret than others)

Summary:
While it's alright for what it does, it just doesn't have an oompf factor to put it over the top. The simple gameplay does well at first in requiring quick decision making and changing up its mechanics. But soon it becomes apparent that the game has a problem with consistency, as good sets of levels are backed up with ones that don't execute very well. The traps can be hit or miss, as the conveyor belts are great and play off the physics of the game well, but the missile traps don't provide any sort of real challenge whatsoever. And then some other flaws start to show: as the length of levels start becoming a real problem. It starts to punish the player for small mistakes that they couldn't really have predicted in boss encounters, and it turns into a slog as you try a level over and over again, asking for precision that the players already proven repeatedly. The game is fine for the price tag in terms of content, and for those looking for twitch action platforming, it can do the job. But a lack of an outstanding factor to draw attention in versus all the other twitch action platformers out there, and it just doesn't get a recommendation from me in the end. When it goes to mobile, it'll be worth a pickup there.
Lists:
My Suggested Positives:
- Solid. Does do a good job of twitch action gameplay at first, and some of the traps provide a challenge.
- Game is at its best when it's testing your understanding of momentum and using the physics of the world around you.
- Visually it's not bad. It's got a good selection of alternate costumes and I like the “break through screen” part of the presentation.
- Load times non existent, and good performance overall.
My Suggested Negatives:
- Lacks a punch. While it's functional, it just doesn't have something to keep your attention for a long period of time.
- Some levels are way too long. You've tested us with the precision of one specific jump, you don't need to test us repeatedly. And it doesn't help when.....
- You get the “ooo gotcha” moments, in particular with Boss fights. There's no good way of predicting the bosses mechanics, and you'll die at least once on each phase. Which is annoying.
- It just lacks. I'm sorry, it just doesn't keep my attention at all.
. Got this game after seeing a guy speed run for a charity stream, and holy crap it's a lot of fun, the movement itself of the character feels very satisfying.
EDIT: this game is perfect.. Amazing game, great soundtrack, awesome artsyle and a bit hard ( I like ).. OK, played through the demo version of this game and loved it! Niceness all around. But, i find the full game on steam and im like: Yay! I get to play the full game! But now i want a refund because of several reasons:
1: Hitboxes. After beating the first boss, the Mish Masher Marshall, i ended up in the second world, and to my surprise it wasnt that bad. BUT on one level where you HAVE TO HAVE ABSOLUTLY PERFECT TIMING, things got bad. All the hitboxes are square, enemies, the character, spikes, water, more spikes, they all have square hitboxes which make those little perfect timing parts INFINITLY HARD.
2: Platforming. The platforming sections are so hard! when i first went up against Mish Masher Marshall, That one part of the boss where there are spikes on walls everywhere, ITS DANG HARD FOR BEGINNERS!
3: Timing and NO CHECKPOINTS. The timing on some of these levels...oh my bloody god...ITS SO IMPOSSIBLE! And to make that worse there are no checkpoints at all. That one thing makes the game so repetitive. Run a level. Die just at the end of the hardest part. Repeat.
Personally, i like this game, but it needs some serious work and changes to the level design.. quot;Review" copy provided by developer)
Good level design, responsive controls, simple yet clever character movement (not your usual left-right-jump), retro but stylish visuals and matching music, challenging, sometimes frustrating (especially if you go for 100%, i.e. enjoy Gauntlet VII), but fair and it's only 2,99 EUR.
Although It's only February I already have a runner-up for best indie game of this year :). Awesome gameplay, nice music, and a good difficulty curve.
It's also cheap as chips, if you get two scoops.
Great game if you want a challenging arcadey experience.. The full (German) review can be found on my

Blitz Breaker is a very simply game. You hurl yourself into one of four directions and as soon as you hit something (could be a wall, a magnet, a conveyor belt), you can move again. That's how you try to avoid a series of obstacles - lasers, spikes, buzz saws, mines - while gathering keys to finish the level. All the while a timer counts down, which can only be increased by gathering coins.
And when you're finished with a world, you're confronted by a boss that needs to be defeated.
That's all there is, really. Nice enough to waste some time. At first anyway. But some stages just drag on and on, which doesn't fit the concept as far as I'm concerned. The final world is the worst offender. And since the last level asked me to move back and forth between multiple rooms (instead of simply moving forward), I had to stop before reaching the final boss. I just couldn't manage to finish more than one room before something got me killed. So good luck finishing the arcade run, where you go through the whole game at once. Not with a single life, though. That would be crazy.
So, would I recommend the game? For the first few worlds anyway. After that, it might get too frustrating. Or maybe I just suck.
