La Tramontane - Ferienhaus direkt am Meer

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland, with a population of about 600,000 in the city itself, or over 2 million if the surrounding towns of the Clydeside conurbation are taken into account. Located at the west end of Scotland's Central Belt on the banks of the River Clyde, Glasgow's historical importance as Scotland's main industrial centre has been challenged by decades of change and various regeneration efforts. The city has transformed itself from being the once mighty powerhouse of industrial Britain to a centre for commerce, tourism, and culture. Glasgow was the host city for the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Kelvingrove Art Gallery is among the largest urban art collections in Europe. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow shouldn't be missing from your own itinerary. It had been opened in 1901 and is Glasgow's most widely used tourist attraction, is really a striking piece of architecture in the Spanish baroque style, fashioned out of red sandstone. There's some truly wonderful art here, with galleries given over to Scottish colorists and French impressionism, for example. Lookup as you enter and you'll see Sophie Cave's spooky floating heads, all sporting eerie human expressions. In the adjacent museum you'll find a Spitfire fighter jet suspended from the ceiling, above stuffed animals including old favorite Sir Roger the elephant. The current weather is not necessarily great. But whatever Glasgow lacks in sunshine it makes up for in attractions and distractions; the sheer amount of clubs, bars and restaurants is impressive and there's something for everybody within our fair city. This –alongside our impeccable patter– is without question why Glasgow is one of the finest places on the planet, and why a night out in the city centre is always a good idea. Pollok Country Park is really a beautifully sculptured green space surrounding grand old Pollok House and art gallery the Burrell Collection. Stop inside Pollok House to see its collections of antique furniture, silverware, ceramics and fine art. Its collection of Spanish paintings is among the finest in Britain. Wander across the gloriously atmospheric Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis. It had been consecrated in 1197 and remains a strong and impressive example of Scottish gothic architecture both inside and out. One other big attraction nearby may be the Necropolis, Glasgow's gloriously atmospheric cemetery inspired by Père Lachaise in Paris and dating back once again to 1833. Amble among the monuments, look out over the city and wonder so just how green and bucolic the view was significantly more than two centuries ago. Ankle-length black leather coat and Demonia boots optional.
